American Gods is a great book and will be in good hands with HBO. Looking forward to it.

I agree, they are much less likely to mess this up than anyone else!
Casting thoughts? The hardest may be Mr Wednesday. Jeff Bridges? Easter would be Christina Hendricks, or someone similarly, ah, earthy.

Or they may - wisely - go with less well known but proven actors. I'm thinking how well cast their big spectacle ROME was. Some well known, like Ciaran Hinds and Purefoy, and some not so much, but all experienced and established.

I loved the book, and I'm very excited about HBO having it... but six seasons for one book? Really? Are they adding dramatically to it? Surely that would be something like four THOUSAND minutes?

Yes they are.
And .. Gaiman are writing a sequel for his book.
If I am to speculate; There will be more standalone episodes of the kind ... 'how did that god arrive' than there are in the book.
Got no problems With that. It is a wast world to explore :)

Pretty sure Gaiman himself said this was untrue when asked over Twitter

The source for this article seems to be 2 years old? Is there a more recent source or confirmation of this story?

It came up at Watersprite (CISFF) in March of this year - there's some details on that here. That was back in March and is the most recent reference I can find (excluding this one from April, which is basically using the same info).
