Fuck. I think I'm having several emotional homosexual affairs. I've been living a lie and I didn't even know.

They can and do. I have as many good male friends as I do female. And they are friends - I can trust them, talk to them and confide in them. And because they feel the same way, it's a reciprocation.

From personal experience, I'd say they do.

I'm happy to stand corrected here then.

Unless all these members of the opposite sex you are friends with totally want to get into your pants.

This made me chuckle, no need for me to continue with the thread.

Although I'm not sure platonic "close" friendships truly exist amongst boys and girls.

Do you genuinely believe people are so driven by their genitals and lust that they can't be good friends with members of the opposite sex?!

I have several close friendships with males because their gender is completely irrelevant when it comes to what I look for in a friendship. Infact, I'm going to sound like one of those knobs, but I have more friends of the opposite sex than I do of my own. I don't know why, maybe because my immediate family is mostly male dominated and I grew up with two older brothers. Doesn't matter really.

My best friend at Uni was a bloke and one of my best friends just now is a bloke.

And every single one of those friendships, past and present, have been completely platonic.

I'm bemused that people can still think this way.

Edit: Just seen that others have commented on this - sorry to harp on about it then Shool, but this is a point that gets me frustrated when it's mentioned.

The majority of my best friends are female. I am not female. I am straight. I have neither shagged or wanted to shag any of my best friends.

BOOM! Shifty, out!

I like to think Shifty is also the name he gives to the movement he makes after sex. A more creepy shimmy.

No, all Scots are redheads. Every single one of us. Apart from me. And almost everyone I know.

You just posted that link as a bit of self promotion so people will post in your thread. And to answer your question, I was clearly joking. While most of the women in your thread are not my type, I am partial to a bit of The Winstead. (well done changing it to put Brie at the top, by the way).

Silly me. Typed 'Scottish actress' into Google Images and the majority were pics of Swinton.

Speaking of which, forgot Kelly McDonald's red too. I don't recognise the other faces...

This one is yummy and cute though:

'Louise Stewart'

Agreed.

I'm actually surprised to see that the term was coined by a woman. I read a couple of things a while back when the term was first mentioned on here, and the phrase was being hijacked to justify some pretty misogynistic opinions on women who were deemed the perpetrators of such thing, all akin to 'how dare she dump emotional things on me and then not let me fuck her...this is all her fault...it's an emotional affair she's after..bitch".

I'm sure the same level of finger pointing and blaming the person with a partner could be applied to both genders and various relationship make-ups, but it sounds suspiciously like a Magnolia-esq woman bashing technique when in the wrong hands.

So I was right then. Success for vad3r. One day when I'm capable of showing emotion or going inside a woman I'll come back. Until then, I'll leave on that note gents.

I find it sort of insulting that its assumed men and women can't have a friendship without some sort of sexual attraction being involved. One of my best friends is male and I have never been attracted to him and visa versa but we are very close and tell each other everything. Does that mean we're having an emotional affair?
