the 1923 version of The Hunchback Of Notre Dame...that last scene with the bell ringing had me bawling as a small child...

Not even as a child? Maybe you just can't remember it.

I wasn't crying at The Muppet Movie in my 20s

ET.

Years later I realised how shit it is and what a total fucking fembot I am. The last few minutes of Apollo 13 usually gets the tear ducts working overtime.

Well, yeah, but don't tell anyone

Actually, there is one song in The Muppet Movie that still makes me tear up slightly. And it's not Rainbow Connection (although, that sometimes can too )

First one for me was ET as well, although I haven't watched it in years. The films that still do it for me these days include Rocky, Stand By Me, Apollo 13, Highlander and most recently Warrior and Toy Story 3.

First Knight, I must've been about 5 or 6; seeing James Bond as an old man was bad enough but seeing him die was heartbreaking.

Yeah ET got me as a kid as well. For some reason I always used to find Run Wild, Run Free a bit of a choker as a child as well. It was always the scene where Mark Lester's character speaks after they rescue the horse from the bog that got me. For some reason the film seemed to be on quite often on a Sunday afternoon when I was a kid.

I can't remember the last time I cried during a film though, although oddly the last act of How To Train Your Dragon can take me to the brink depending on my mood. Same with Toy Story 3.

ET is an interesting one....it never made me cry but I remember my dad wiping away a tear when he took me to see it at the cinema...

She's All That and Forest Gump, strangely have both bought a lump to my throat in the past....

You're all a bunch of little girls!

If I wasn't so damn manly I guess Band of Brothers, Saving private Ryan or Schindler's List would give you a grizzly Adams lump in the throat and a sly very manly tear!

Man up sissies!

Oh The Fox & The Hound. I remember being absolutely inconsolable when [spoiler!] the titular characters are separated at the end, sobbed all the way home from the cinema.

Funnily enough my 6-year-old daughter recently saw the same film for the first time at a friend's house. Her friend was distraught, my daughter was stoical. (Although she sobbed at Monsters Inc. at the weekend when Boo has to leave Sulley).

All this Fox & The Hound talk is making me slightly weepy. Is World War Z out yet? *sniff*

Return Of The Jedi.

Saw it on TV when I was 8 (I think) and was absolutely hysterical with tears towards the end, because I really, really, REALLY wanted Vader's good side to prevail. Naturally I was on my feet screaming when he gave the Emperor what-for

I don't think that was the first time - it may have been the Tim Drake flashback in Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker (that really traumatised me) - but it was definitely the first and last time that a movie has truly made me "bawl my eyes out".

I have never cried at a film, that was until I watched Up. Dear God, the beginning especially is just so beautiful and then so heart-breaking.

Artificial Intelligence made me cry like a baby when I first saw it - I think I was 13. It still gets me now.

Oh, that destroyed me too. Saw a clip of it on TV as a kid, and it happened to be that scene, um...in the forrest. Which gave me the terrifying thought that my mother would do the same to me. So I have A.I. and Return Of The Joker to thank for being a much better son

And when I saw A.I. years later all the way through, I still had a lump in my throat.

That is the exact moment that I feel myself welling up. I have to watch it when it's on, though. Almost like, "I won't cry this time, not this time. Ah, damn!"

First movie i recall crying was E.T. - the scene where they find him all white in the stream. I was a blubbering 9 year old wreck.

To be fair, a lot of us have said what films made us cry when we were kids, so that's allowed

I honestly can't remember crying at films as a child, possibly out of fear of the monkeys in Wizard of Oz, but certainly not from a sad scene. (seeing ET aged 9 at the cinema and I don't think I cried to be truthful)
However I am reduced to a blubbering wreck if I hear the first 2 notes of When Somebody Loved Me in Toy Story 2, or even the mentioned of The Iron Giant.

That's it, I'm off........
