Really couldn't care less about a new Star Wars and I'm already really bored with all the speculation.

If you couldn't care less why is your username Darthmhall?? And why are you commenting?? Huh?
This is not really news. What have we learned? Not a great deal. Empire obviously feel that they need to report on the story too although to call it a story would be stretching it a little.
This is the journalistic equivalent of treading water...

I'm a lifelong Star Wars fan, but not remotely excited about any of this anymore . JJ making the next Star Wars is worrying, I think is Star Trek movies have been completely dire!

With the amount of build that Star Wars Episode 7 will receive until 2015 the film itself can really only be a disappointment. Maybe we will be proved wrong and I hope we are, but there is far too much expectation for fans of the original trilogy. At the end of the day this is all about making money for Disneys newly acquired 'Cash Cow'. Lets face it, the story concluded perfectly at the end of 'ROTJ' do we need the memory of Star Wars sullied further?

Obviously we'll hear about every little tidbit on this project on the Empire site, it's what this site does! I appreciate that there's a 'forced' element of buzz on this film but naysaying is even more easy to jump onto. JJ has actually done wonders with Trek, especially with the superbly crafted first film. Clearly the man will have to bring his A-Game to Star Wars. Personally I'm hoping we'll get some cracking sci fi from this new set of films, at this stage it's difficult to ask for more than that I think.

'A' game? JJ will have to make lightning strike twice to make it happen. I hope that lessons from the poorly executed prequels have been learned.
All the news buzz is fun but what happens is that it raises expectation to a point that is more often than not only going to be a huge let down. Prometheus is a good modern example where a franchise is revisited and the new product is completely underwhelming. I remember being excited about it like everyone else but the hype created by the Internet somehow completely undermines the film. To be honest in terms of Prometheus (and The Phantom Menace come to think of it) the build up of far more entertaining than the film itself. It's not right...

...will be A MILLION TIMES MORE THRILLING than ANYTHING George Lucas has done to Star Wars in the last 14 years! I am really curious and - for the first time in years - really looking forward to a new Star Wars movie.

We all know they are kids films but Lucas did it in such a clever way that adults felt like they were watching an epic unfold - not just your standard kid film. I just hope that Disney don't try to push in any of their traditional business model - the unecessary random kid character/storyline. It was clear that Disney had influenece over the production of Iron Man 3 and threw in that random kid. Was it needed? No! Did it push the narrative? No! It almost felt like one of those 70's/80's Disney films in which the space traveller crashes on earth and the kid has to save him.

As long as the script is good I think Abrams will make a good movie, anythings got to be better than episode 1 surely!?
Also why's he moaning about moving his kids, why move them at all, if they are 13-14 then I dont think being away from them for 6 months or however long it'll take to make the film will have as massive an impact as moving them to another country will!!

Great ,another filler news item with no news of any substance.

So Empire, who is dating who at the moment... we may as well go down that route as well?
Or who got a job because they are someone's cousin? Maybe that one is too controversial...

The scene in JJ's Star Trek where Kirk meets Scotty in terms of the music and set is massive nod to The Empire Strikes Back. Hopefully JJ can bring a film quality back to Star Wars and deliver some performances from his actors.
