However, looking forward to this, I loved The Company of Wolves, and kind of liked Interview with a Vampire, he really has a feel for this sort of thing, and yes, we can do horror oh so much more creepy than over there..

Neil Jordan is awesome at this type of movie, his Interview with the Vampire was excellent and I wish they would talk him into making the other vampire movies in the Anne Rice series!.

Well if someone should it should definitely be Jordan, The Queen of the Damned was a bit of a nightmare, and such a good book, but I do think IWAV was miscast, especially Antonio Banderas as Armand, wasn't he supposed to be a child?

Armand should have been an early teen child with Red hair yes. Why someone hasn't made The Vampire Lestat is beyond me! the story is better than any other Vampire novel I have ever read. The scenes that can be plucked from that book which would look gorgeous on the bigscreen are potentially epic! Lestats battle with a pack of wolves in the snowy forest for one!

I think one of the reasons that Lestat hasn't been made as a successful film is the whole 80's pop star thing, I wasn't convinced by it in the books and I don't think it would translate on to film easily, it would probably date itself immediately, however, in the right hands it could be 'retro' I suppose.. I like the idea of the Marius/ Armand/ Vittorio stories, they could be so lovely to look at, Venice, etc...

Actually I think the only thing the QoTD movie did superbly was the Lestat as rockstar! they updated it for its time and the actual soundtrack was and still is superb, not dated in over a decade now. )Plus when does being a bit goth go out of fashion?, they nailed that part. Given that most of a VL movie would be set in the past it wouldn't be an issue, they can take the same goth approach and get the soundtrack right, would be great. The danger is getting some young director who tries to make it all hip and for the teenie twatlight lovers, hence Jordan should give AR a call, I think the rights are back with her for the first three books?.

Last I heard Ron Howard was producing the fourth in the series (fuck knows why). Which would be great to see but would rather they produced TVL and QoTD first, introduce Lestat again before the Body thief saga!

He he, last I heard Ron Howard was doing The Stand, but that never materialised either! Agreed, Goth Lestat could be done with a good soundtrack but I don't think QotD did it, Pornography Cure or Bauhaus would be cool, casting? Courtney Love? Now there's a twist

It appears to still be in the works! I agree with this article, dumb way to introduce or reboot the character! why not just do The Vampire Lestat as a movie! you know! the book that is actually Lestats autobiography/origins!! does that not make logical sense!! ,movie studio wankers!
