aka August Issue.

Monsters University, Only God Forgives, Elysium, World's End.

I'd love to see PIXAR's movie on the cover

Monsters University is out in July.

Only God Forgives is an ultraviolent independant film with very bad critics. A cover is unlikely...

Since Hot Fuzz (and even Scott Pilgrim!) had a cover, maybe The World's End will have one too. But the 1st Kick Ass also got a cover...

And The Lone Ranger is a pretty massive release too.

--> very unpredictable covers this summer!

I haven't even seen the cover of The Wolverine issue yet, so I don't know what's been covered in it. As soon as they announce the content, i'll post my 290 predictions!

Well, given that 'Pacific Rim', 'Kick-Ass 2', 'Catching Fire' and 'The Worlds End' were all covered in 289, I would say the best bet would be 'The Lone Ranger'.

But there's so little excitement for The Lone Ranger. I would say Catching Fire or Thor: The Dark World but they were both covered in this issue, as were The World's End and Kick-Ass 2.
I'd love a cover for Gravity, but I reckon this could be the month that The Hobbit promo campaign starts up again.

Urgh i really hope not - may well be The Lone Ranger because of Johnny Depp being a huge film star .

I really hope it's not The lLone Ranger. I don't know anybody who is remotely interested in seeing this.
The next instalment of The Hobbit has a teaser due shortly, (maybe with Man of Steel), so I think this is a definitely maybe...

Isn't it about time Empire put a Pixar film on the cover. Wouldn't mind Monsters University or The World's End as long as its not another superhero I will be happy.

I'm very interested in TLR. The problem is: it's badly marketed and so far we haven't heard a lot about it. That's why i expect an intensive coverage from Empire :-)

Elysium? I'm not excited but a lot of people seem to be. If TLR doesn't get the cover, it'll get some good coverage as it didn't this month. I wish good animated films like Despicable Me 2, Monster's Uni and Cloudy 2 would get a shared cover once in a while.

I like the cover, I know we get a lot of Hobbit covers but I never get bored of reading about it.

As for the rest of the issue it looks great much better than the last couple of issues. Looking forward to reading the Rick Moranis interview and The World's End.

Could anyone who has the issue tell me what films are reviewed inside? Like Pacific Rim or Monsters Uni. Also, what gets covered in the Comedy Preview? Thanks.

It looked good from outside, but there's wasn't enough on Anchorman and too much on Top Secret and The Crow. Still, the September issue is never very good. I have a letter printed in the current issue, however, about Benedict Cumberbatch being a good Darth Sidious. It's on the bottom of the left side page, if you have time to look!

No. Empire has been on the decline for months now. From the opening "look at me!" editor's letter to the obsession with the Hobbit and Simon Pegg, I get a better idea of what's on at the movies from the free Cineworld magazine.

Yeh, the Editor's message is atrocious. EMPIRE has become especially bad for the writers trying to make themselves stars, I don't give a monkey's tit about Chris Hewitt or what witty t-shirt and sports jacket combo he has to show off this month yet nearly every issue seems to shoehorn a picture of him or a reference. Four Four Two's editor is just as bad.

I'd actually like to see a film magazine that has no bylines. All the articles just 'by EMPIRE staff'.

And another thing in interviews with actors/actresses where the interviewer comments on something off topic and the interviewee responds - I don't need to read that. That is your own idle chit-chat with the interviewee and you have only kept it in the article to be 'Oh, did you see that, just some casual small talk I made with Brad Pitt...'

I also don't need to know what hotel or swanky locale the interview is taking place in, what the interviewee is wearing or eating or any other inane crap that gets included in the interviews these days.

Rant over.
