What was everyone's first 18 rated film? I remember mine being Face/Off when I was 12.

I know some people started younger and I envy them a bit, but I guess there is a first time for everyone.

I have no idea, I'm to old. It was either The Terminator, A Nightmare On Elm Street or The Burning. I think maybe The Burning.

At the cinema, it was American Beauty at the age of 15.

At home however, it was Robocop - at the age of 7.

I can't say for sure whether it had a lasting effect on me or not.

Really can't remember. May have been An American Werewolf in London or A Nightmare On Elms St when I was about 10. The first 18 rated film I saw in a cinema if I remember correctly was The Silence of the Lambs when I was 16. The first 18 rated film I saw when I actually was 18 was Alien. I got it from my brother for my 18th birthday

First 18 that I ever bought was Kiss the Girls on VHS and I still had to prove that I was 18.

I'm not 100% sure on this as it was a long time ago, but I think the first 18 I watched was The Warriors. I must have been about 12 or 13. My parents were pretty strict on what I could watch until I got to about 14/15, but my dad actually recommended The Warriors to me!

I remember getting away with very few 18's. For example, I saw Scream when I was 13, Blade and The Punisher (2004) was through a friend at school who lent them to me. At 14 I saw Jackass The Movie and then got away with more from about 15, where I saw Die Hard, Clerks, Mallrats, Freddy Got Fingered, Starship Troopers and The Crow. I saw Kill Bill Volume 1 and the first two Saw films when I was about 15 or 16, but can't remember exactly.

I started buying plenty of 18 rated DVD's myself when I was 17, since it was only a one year difference and thought not many people would notice. I remember the first 18 I bought myself was Planet Terror and did not get asked for age or I.D., but there were times when they refused to sell me the DVD and I got away with it when I tried it again at other stores.

However, I did not start seeing 18 rated films at the cinema till I was actually 18 and I think my first one was The Human Centipede 1. I just never wanted to take the risk trying to get into 18's in the cinema, even at 17. I rarely got asked for age or I.D. when going to see an 18 at the cinema, since I only started going when I was legally allowed. Although, I was asked for my age when I saw Dredd at the cinema and I told the guy I'm 21. He believed me luckily and let me in, but really surprised he asked my age and could have been to do with my shave.

I think Blade was the first. I saw Pulp Fiction, Alien and The Exorcist quite young, at around 14, but I'm pretty sure Blade was before that.

My first at the cinema was Inglourious Basterds.

Think I was about 10 when I seen The Exorcist back in the early 80's, scared me for years just thinking about it. Seen it again about 10 years ago and thought "was that it".

Come to think of it, The Evil Dead might have even been before Blade. They were definitely around the same time. Hard to remember which was first.

Good topic although I canít remember to be honest, but Iím pretty sure it would have starred either Charles Bronson, Sylvester Stallone, Chuck Norris or Michael Dudikoff! First one I distinctly remember watching and thinking I really shouldnít be watching this is Robocop!

To be honest, I can't remember what my first 18 film was, I was almost a six-footer by the time I was 14 and quite facially-hairy with it, so as long as I spoke in quite a low tone, they always let me in... plus they REALLY didn't give a shit at my local cinema... it was kind of a dump.

^ Heh. I remember getting into my first 12 rated film at the cinema when I was 9, which was before the 12A rating system even started and that meant only viewers aged 12 and over were allowed in. I think it was Nutty Professor 2 and I was surprised that I got in lol. I'm glad I am over 18 now and can finally see whatever I want, as I heard they are getting tougher and tougher on age restricted films at the cinema.

I even remember going to see Paul at the cinema, which is rated 15 and a kid around 15 I think was with his mum but they still insisted on him showing I.D. I think he was allowed in afterwards but that is an example of how things are getting worse.

It was Interview With The Vampire when I was 12 or 13. I had a heeeuuuuge crush on Tom Cruise, probably because he was the same height, and got my big sister to buy it for me from HMV.

First at the cinema was American Beauty when I was a student. I still can't believe that's an 18.

18-rated? Gah, the kids today...

My first X-rated movie was a John Carpenter double bill with Assault on Precinct 13 opening for Hallowe'en when I was 14. Scared several shades of shit clean out of all of us, especially since we had to walk through a few dark lanes to get back home! It was followed the next week by my second X-rated movie, this time The Great Rock and Roll Swindle. I remember the supporting feature much better - a dodgy Swedish soft porno called Sex Rally (remember, this was in the day that for most boys of my age, porno was only ever found in mags discarded in hedges or by verges!)

Fair enough. Do you actually remember it? I know I watched things when I was 4 (more along the lines of Postman Pat) but I don't actually remember it. My only memory of that age is falling off a piano.

I remember watching The Thing on video when I was 5 or 6 although technically it wasn't 18 rated at the time as it was before the 1984 Video Recordings Act and thinking about it, that didn't actually come into effect 'til 1985 so in other words I haven't got a clue. The earliest sweary/violent/scary films I remember watching were The Thing, An American Werewolf In London, Alien, Marathon Man, and, erm, Who Dares Wins so it must've been one of those.

The first 18 I saw was Falling Down (I must have been about 14). I remember distinctly that I spent ages trying to convince my parents to let me watch it because my older brother kept going on about how brilliant it was, and then I was disappointed that it was actually a bit rubbish,
