If you had to pick 13 movies from 1985 to watch in a row to raise money for a local charity, what would you choose?

I am doing this over the bank holiday and my program looks this.

The Back to 1985 for Willow Wood Challenge

Monday 6th May 2013

☐ 8am: Pee Wee's Big Adventure
☐ 10am: A View To A Kill
☐ 12pm: Clue
☐ 2pm: D.A.R.Y.L
☐ 4pm: Police Academy 2: Their First assignment
☐ 6pm: Jagged Edge
☐ 8pm: Commando
☐ 10pm: Lust in the Dust

Tuesday 7th May 2013

☐ 12am: Fright Night
☐ 2am: Re-Animator
☐ 10am: The Breakfast Club
☐ 12pm: The Last Dragon
☐ 2pm: Back To The Future

Throughout the day I will be updating the blog on how the challenge is going so please keep visting.

All generous donations will go directly to Willow Wood Hospice in Tameside

Spinal Tap is 1984. Chuck that out and put in Police Story, which should have been first on your list.

Also chuck out A View to a Kill, Commando and Lust in the Dust (no idea what the heck that is) and put in The Purple Rose of Cairo, Ran and Better off Dead....

But keep Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment?

Personally I'd ditch Pee-Wee, Spinal Tap (only because it's the wrong year) and Jagged Edge and replace them with The Goonies, Young Sherlock Holmes and Rambo: First Blood 2. Sounds like fun.

Can't believe I forgot Rambo: First Blood, Part II. I will castigate myself thoroughly.

I'd ditch most of them, and go for the following:

The Young Sherlock Holmes
Friday The 13th Part V
Day Of The Dead
Pale Rider
Return To Oz
Cocoon
Goonies
National Lampoons European Vacation
Blood Simple
Teen Wolf
Witness
Cats Eye
Brewsters Millions
Rambo First Blood Pt. 2
The Journey Of Natty Gann
Back To The Future
Silver Bullet
The Explorers

Another vote for Better Off Dead, found a cheap DVD copy a few weeks back, an under-rated teen movie classic.

Thanks for replies. Can't believe my huge schoolboy error re Spinal Tap. I am going to replace it with either The Sure Thing, Rambo or Witness.
Also agree with lots of the suggestions here but I am working off what is either available on Netflix(all regions) or what I own on shiny disc. If there were no restriction I would've likely included purple rose of Cairo and police story especially.
Better off Dead is one I haven't seen and do have access too but the title is not really appropriate considering I am raising money for a hospice. This is why I have also omitted Day of the Dead.

Um, you're right. Sorry.

Good film, though, check it out when your done with the money-raising thing.

'The Sure Thing' is an excellent substitute if you need to get a bit of Cusack into your line-up.

I would go for either Re-Animator, Return of the Living Dead or Day of the Dead (1985).

A View To A Kill

Bond: I hear you spend a lot of time in the saddle.
Pretty lady #1: Yes, I love an early morning ride

Can't imagine Daniel Craig saying this stuff.

Second Police Academy is one of the best one so go along with that, plus you do need some cheese in there with it being the 80s.

Spiral Tap yeah is a must.

What year was Princess Bride because that would have been a good choice.

Sadly A View to a Kill is one of the lamest Bond's in history.

Have fun, will try and check the blog through the day!.

People alway say that Die Hard is the greatest action movie ever made as if it is an indisputable fact.
Clearly though the answer should be Commando.

And it's all over, PeeWee found his bike, Mahoney finished his first assignment, Arnold got Jenny back, the Breakfast Club kids discovered who they really were inside and Marty Mcfly flew back to the future with Doc in a flying Delorean.

1985 movie marathon is over. Until next time, why don't you make like a tree and get out of here!

I was thinking more along the lines of:

'There's no need to forget your manners just because there's a war on.'

Or

'No disassemble!!'

Or even

'As sure as my name is Lucky Day, the people of Santa Poco can conquer their own personal El Guapo, who also happens to be *the actual* El Guapo!'
