Just when I thought my estimation of Ritchie couldn't drop further. This is abysmal casting. Hammer would tower over Cruise. They would look ridiculous together. What is the deal with Cruise that he needs to play every secret agent on screen? I would prefer Jon Hamm and Peter Sarsgard.

Jon Hamm would be inspired casting!

The problem with this starring Cruise, and this is probably the case even if it was 1960s set (which I doubt it will be), is that it will no doubt end up looking exactly like Mission Impossible (again a 1960s original). As much as I would love to see a Jon Hamm and Pete Sarsgard version, in all honesty it is better left alone.

I still think Nathan Fillion and Paul Bettany is the dream team. Have McCallum as Mr. Waverley.

But seriously, Cruise will not work

The smooth and urbane Leo G. Caroll, a veteran of no less than six Hitchcock films, was the New York U.N.C.L.E. HQ boss in the original TV series. How about casting Anthony Hopkins to play Mr. Waverly alongside Cruise and Hammer?

Finally, I have been waiting a very long time to see this movie. I don't think that the original concept requires too much of an update to be extremely successful. Why not retain the historical Cold War backdrop and set this feature film in 1966? 1966 was about as cool a year as there ever was in almost every aspect- style, cars, music, arts, and the overall public mood. I can already smell the Hai Karate cologne, see the women's go-go boots, and hear the Johnny River's music!
