Recently re-watched II funnily enough. It's not terrible, just nowhere near as quote-able or memorable as the first. But yeah, it kinda is a bit lazy and the focus is on the wrong characters. But whatever.

All I know is the cinema I was in, full of people (quite probably full of people who very much enjoyed the first one - of which I was one) watched the film and there were very VERY few laughs.

"I think in five or ten years time, people will come to realise how brilliant Hangover II is." That's a pretty lame thing to say about your own movie. Sounds kind of deluded.

You can tell a bad comedy because the actors are desperately overdoing things to get laughs and that's the feeling I got from Hangover II. It was just stale. Another way you can tell if a comedy isn't great is if the bloopers at the end are way funnier and they were for Hangover II. It didn't really work. Five or ten years won't change that.

'It annoys' you when people call it 'lazy'? Easy way to remedy that, Mr Phillips - don't make the same film! Boom!

Yes, Hangover 2 is lazy.
By the way, if someone has to die in Part 3, I hope it's Ken Jeong. I can't watch that guy anymore after Transformers 3 and Hangover 2... Unfunniest, most irritating guy in the movies!

He's only saying that Part II was better than the first film because he wrote it and not the first, and he's written the next one as well. Part II has more or less the same plot as number 1, they lose someone and have to get them back before a wedding. Alan turns out to have drugged them, Stu gets disfigured and does stuff with another woman and they get involved with criminal activity before Stu suddenly realises what happened and racing against time.
