Brosnans Moonraker! (although MR was far superior to DAD),

quote:

Brosnan ends up looking almost equaly silly and embarrassed by it, and I'll bet that - handsome pay cheques aside - he was happy to be shot of the 007 role after this.

Brosnan will have been expecting his FYEO after DAD (a non reboot version of Casino Royale) especially since Moore was of a similar age and went on to do 3 more, plus the Bonds always go back to realism after it gets too crazy with the gadgets, mad villians with outlandish schemes etc (YOLT /OHMSS...MR/FYEO...AVTAK/TLD...) so he'll have been looking foward to getting stuck into some serious acting after the excess of DAD

Moore should really have finished after MR too, with a new younger guy (Lewis Collins?) taking over for the more gritty realistic approach of FYEO - a new harder edged Bond for the new decade.

Wasn't Brosnan bored of 007 by DAD? I thought he even claimed on wanting to kill Bond.

Also, it was truly amusing times when FYEO is considered a more realistic and gritty take on Bond.

Lewis Collins? That is a new one!

Come on Moore still did Octopussy which is great, old fashioned, family entertainment.

Well so is Licence to Kill and we have trucks doing wheelies to avoid stinger missiles and a hero trapped underwater who spears a seaplane, waterskis aboard, steals the plane (which is carrying about $2 million) and drops the bad guys into the water!

But I love LTK and FYEO!

For Your Eyes Only had fewer gadgets (which seems to be the whole "Bond is grittier and realistic" argument) and did have Bond kick Locke's car over the cliff, which was pretty cold blooded for Moore's 007.

Or just, y'know... hire Dalton?
