Are you sure you're not just getting confused again and thinking because it's French it must be good? Like you do with Amelie?

Oh my God, I can't wait for the Amélie sweep.

How crushed are you going to be by the inevitable Fellowship sweep?

Oh God. Hopefully we will all feel LOTR has been rewarded enough by then.

Some good categories there, best actress being the toughest one I think. I put Williams and Paquin in mine so a shame they're not there. Although I completely forgot Swinton!

Also forgot Oswalt for supporting actor although I really can't see how Pitt's performance was better than Marsan or Hosseini's.

Four of my five director noms got in and eight of my picture ones. Woo!

I really need to watch TTSS again. When I saw it at the cinema I'd only just read the book and watched the TV series so I didn't think much of it apart from the cinematography and Oldman and Strong's performances.

I've just went back through my ballot. No Soderbergh for Contagion? Shame, shame...

Anyway, I'm going to tear shit up if Woodley doesn't win supporting actress.

It was pretty so-so? A poor balancing act of trying to do justice to an idea of reality with some fairly scholocky melodrama?

Watch Regenesis - much better

Pretty much. It'd be like Dragon Tattoo actually getting the nom, a forgettable effort by a director capable of much better (and also much worse)

You both suck.

Gwyneth Paltrow gets bumped off in the first five minutes. That alone makes it a 5/5 film.

This is a fair point. But she does keep turning up in flashbacks.

Sent.

Did Drive get nominated for Costume Design based on a Jacket? jesus some people love that film a lil too much.

Hugo and Tyrannosaur dominate my ballot just a tad

Some good choices in there, much more satisfied with this line-up than the 2013 one.

Very pleased to see big attention for Drive & A Separation.

Would have liked to have seen Kirsten Dunst make the best actress shortlist, but it's cool Olivia's there. If she doesn't win I WILL start a riot.

I'll also add my voice to the "No Michael Shannon? C'MON!" brigade or the general lack of noms for Take Shelter. Thatis a real big shame.

Completely forgot about Tintin. Probably would have voted for it a little had I remembered.

Forgot Tyrannosaur was technically an adaptation, so that's a wasted vote from me.

Whilst I'm glad WNTTAK has been noted, its lack of technical noms (particularly in sound) & one for Ramsay makes one very sad.

The cinematography line-up is a really strong one. Easily the hardest category to decide on.

And yey, 3 Muppet songs & a National track to choose from!

Will get my votes in later tonight.

Lee, got your votes, thanks.

I think the biggest problem Shannon had was that most of his votes were in third place or lower. A couple of first or second places would have seen him easily into the noms.

Still, you can all get a chance again next year and nominate his Kim Fowley - the best part of a really disappointing film.

You mean we're nominating in a kind of order of preference?

Oops!

I thought the Runaways was pretty decent, but Shannon was undoubtedly the highlight.

I'll send my votes nearer the deadline. I want to try and get Tyrannosaur watched before the votes are due (that's if I have time alongside the 9 HOF films I need to see )
