I guess the Oscars is a bit of a snobby affair to say the least and yet again some of the years best films have been rudely ignored! Films that are a bit out there like the excellent Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master, even though I'm a big fan of Day Lewis I do feel that Pheonix deserved the Oscar for his excellent unhinged performance as a troubled drifter. Maybe there are too many Scientologists at the top who frown upon the portrayal in the modern masterpiece as it wasn't even nominated for best screenplay or film! Also where was the excellent French pic Rust and Bone? A far better film than the tiresome Silver Linings Playbook and Marion Cotillard definitely deserved more recognition than Jennifer Lawrence's over the top and hammy performance! And on one last note, Emmanuel Riva was robbed of a much deserved Oscar, her performance in the excellent and touching Amour was miles above that of the winner Lawrence! Well at least Waltz deservedly won best supporting actor and Tarantino got some recognition for the excellent Django Unchained.
