Just use my votes for the tech categories!

Ok, so I've finished the count and two things have happened.

1. The majority of lists opted for five best picture nominees rather than ten, so that's the format I took.

2. The technical categories were on a minority of lists, so I'm going to do as discussed a while back in the thread and just run the major categories.

I need to find pics for the nominees, but the thread will be up at some point today.

This is a shame having the tech categories does make it a bit more interesting for me and at least gives the chance for a wider range of films to get a look in. Still can understand why people find it. Will be very interested in what the top five films are.

Re the tech categories. I agree with most of them - the Sound ones, eg, makeup and stuff.

Would it be possible, though, to see if people were happy with just keeping cinematography? I think that's the one most might have found the easiest of those ones.

If people want to vote for it, that's fine with me. Although we haven't actually discussed even starting the next year yet.

I was holding off on it a little because of starting the group stuff for the 64 knockout thingy. But it doesn't hurt if votes/recommendations come in now.

Prestige is an adaptation - of a book that had problems which IMO the film didn't solve and added to.

The Descent - cinematography. It deservedly won the Kermode's in that category too.

Prestige is my least favourite Nolan film, can't comment on the source.

The Descent is easily the Marshall's best film and in my top ten for that year deserves to win something.

Whoops.

FYC - The Prestige for Best Adapted Screenplay, and maybe Supporting for David Bowie just 'cause.

There are 3 Paul Walker films eligible for this with more than 7 on IMDB.

That's wrong, surely?

Options for Best Foreign Film - please vote if you can

Days of Glory
Ten Canoes
Curse of the Golden Flower
Lunacy
After the Wedding
Yacoubian Building
Lights in the Dusk
Lives of Others
The Banquet
White Palms
The Golden Door
Panís Labyrinth
Black Book
Madeinusa
9th Company
King and the Clown
Volver

Although I'd guess a couple of those may figure prominently in the main nominations too

I'm sure you've mentioned it elsewhere, and I am just not looking very hard, but what do you not like about The Descent?

Neil Marshall insulted his mum, spat in his food and set his slippers on fire.

It's a personal thing.

Nah, he just wrote some really bad screenplays and filmed them. Then people lied to me and told me they were good.

Any updates on when the normations might be up? Don't want to miss out on voting for Inland Empire assuming it comes up.
