It's a nice idea, but I think it might be easier, for me, to work off a limited existing list than to go out to work through all the 2010 films. Would that still be OK for my noms if others would like to go the wider way?

If I'm honest, I kinda prefer going by the eligibility list, but since I see next to no ineligible obscure shit I'm not as affected by not being able to include films I want to. So I don't mind if others would rather the alternative.

Yeah, I probably wouldn't have the time to do it, unless something strikes me as should being eligible - like Henshall in Snowtown.

However, if others wanted to do it, I wouldn't have a problem with them doing it and me not.

That said, perhaps people who would like to do it can use the For Your Consideration bit to bring to the attention of others as an option?

My main reason for suggesting it was actually the foreign language category, because there's not been many votes coming in, and it's not a situation I can see improving. I thought having the variety might help encourage votes there.

Can't wait to get to 1985 - FYC Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt for Girls Just Want to Have Fun.

Wait - so that means I can nominate Dog Soldiers for 2004?

Geordie isn't actually a foreign language. And anyway, it's from 2002.

Shit is still shit whatever year the director decided to crap in the camera and call it a film.

...

I may be taking my anger about other issues out on Dog Soldiers there.

It's certainly not as obnoxious as Precious, but I don't think it comes together very well. Such a pity.

So far this year I've seen Life of Pi, Cloud Atlas, and now Lee Daniels all called visionary. I don't like judging other people's taste, but I'm beginning to despair for the future of cinema.

OK, visionary is a stretch, and I'm the guy who liked Precious enough to put it in his favourite films list.

You liked Cloud Atlas too...

Did you like Life of Pi? Because if so I think I can blame you for all that's bad in cinema.

I don't mind either way about expanding the eligibility list. I like it as it is but having the option for more would be good, though the extra research required to remember what I've seen that could count would not be so good.

No, it doesn't appeal to me.

Me and Ang Lee films usually don't click.

I would rather have just the eligible films to be honest, as its meant to be like the real oscars. If you want maybe have a separate list of foreign films for that category (and docs?) not perfect, but could work.

An FYC for the next year poll

Night Catches Us.

A brilliant, overlooked film, and you could vote for The Bunk for supporting actor...

Director, cast, Screenplay and Film all are worth consideration for Please Give, the best film by far of the ones I have seen from the list. So Please Give?
