I went out with friends last night, chaps I was getting leathered with in the 90's, and anyway, after much discussion we decided that we had all pissed on the spot at least 20 times each, 2 claimed to have slept in the car park, a couple of chunders and 1 confirmed blow job.
Which I would think is more than all of the sexually aroused academics put together.

Well...the Danes only ruled for a very short time, one year to be precise, from 1013 to 1014. When you say the Normans and French, well the Normans were French, they came from Normandy with William the Conquerer. Overall the majority of rulers before Richard III were English, but Richard was the last true English King before Tudor rule and then a whole host of different folk.

Since we're Britain now, shouldn't the Scottish Stuarts count?
Hell, Oliver Cromwell was definitely English and he was essentially King for five years.

Did anyone see the program about this last night?

AMAZING... they were so lucky to dig in the exact spot... and the main woman in the team decided to dig where they did because she noticed the letter R painted in the car park and had a creepy feeling that was the spot.... and it fucking well was! His bones were the first things they found on the first day of the dig. In-cred-ib-le.

I quite agree in ignoring the Welsh as British, nobody likes matty_b/rawlinson anyways.

Yes the Normans were long ancestors of the Vikings but at the time we are talking about the Normans were well n truly French. They came from Normandy in France with William and gave host to a series of French born Kings of England. These French born Kings did somewhat peter out towards the reign of Richard III.

The time period we are talking about is also referred to as England, Richard was the last true English King because he was English, born in Northamptonshire, he had Norman routes but was born in England and had a better claim to the throne along with his royal family background. The Tudors were of Welsh/French background, albeit they didn't have as much of a claim to the throne as Richard because of this simple fact, plus it depended on what branch of the family you came from. Henry Tudor came from a family line that is very complicated with many many relations (which start with Edward III) but also Welsh ancestry.

Scotland was an independent country at this time and was not ruled by the English King, only Wales was ruled by the King. But if you were born in England you had a better claim to the throne than if you were born in Wales. In those days these matters made a difference, it tipped the scales in your favour. But English meant England back then, Wales included somewhat but that's it. No Scotland and no Ireland.

Other then the sheep shagging, there's also that I see anyone not from London or Southern England as being either Welsh or Scottish. Manx if I consider you inferior.

And please don't confuse goat shagging with the Maltese, that's a Gozotan passtime alongside with degrading the Maltese.

Thankfully.

You want to be related with the people that invented bagpipes?

(ignores the bit that bagpipes aren't just a Scottish thing)

They can have the plaudits for the best Bond, then.

Although the Scots will obviously contest that.

I was born here, Scotland can't really do anything about that. You'd just be an un-needed addition to an already shockingly high STD statistics table.

Keep Richard in Leicester!!

http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/39708

I heard some tosser on Radio 5 last night from York saying the gloves are off and they are going to petition for Richard III to be buried in York. After much taking the piss out of Leicester I nearly crashed my car in sheer anger. His reasoning was fair play, difficult to argue against but as someone who is proud to be from Leicester, I think we need to take the fight to them.

If you don't care either way, sign the petition above.
If you would like Richard to remain in Leicester, sign the petition above.
If you would rather he be taken to York, fuck off.
