I have a dream.
That dream is to one day in the not too distant future, own a dog, and name it Cosmo Brown.

This made me wonder if any of you forumites have pets you've named after movie stars/characters? I know Sarah Milican has a cat called Chief Brody, which I enjoy (whatever you think of her comic ability, that's a good cat name), but what about YOU!?

(Sorry if there's recently been a pet-thread, it's been a while).

 Our dog looks like the dog from Lady and the Tramp, so we named the dog after that. (not the Tramp.)

If I had another dog of my own though, I plan to call him Ash.

 If I were to ever get a cat, I'm calling it Buster, after Mr Keaton.

When I eventually get a dog it will be a pedigree British bulldog (some way off, they're not cheap) and I will probably call it Alfie, or Hitch.

 My Cat is called Duster after the skunk in David Niven's No Deposit No return. I was watching it we needed a name for a black and white cat.

I want to get two bengal cats and call them Rouge & Gambit. Mr HQ is vetoing it due to Bengal Cat's being super expensive and high maintenance and he thinks the characters aren't good. The other one is for a ginger tabby and call him Jeeves.

We have a dog called Buster because he just looks like a dog called Buster...



However, if we ever get a cat I'm calling it Megatron.

I had 2 goldfish called Heskey and Cottee, after, errrr, Emile Heskey and Tony Cottee, but I don't think they ever appeared in any films.
One of my old neighbours had a dog called Scarface, albeit it was a Westie so didn't quite live up to the name.

I like the idea of naming animals after real life people rather than characters, I think. I think poets and artists suit cats - I would like to call a cat Lord Byron for example. For a dog maybe sciencey people are better, Einstein, or obviously Pavlov.

 I've always called pets I've had real person names. I don't know why, it's not a concious thing, I name them after names I've heard along the day.

I named by budgie Julie after I heard my gran gossiping about a woman with the same name, It really suited her as well. I also named a goldfish I had Robert after my Grans next door neighbour. That also suited him! We had a goldfish called Larry named after Larry David but unfortunately he met his demise a few weeks before Christmas.


When we eventually get a dog, I think we're going to call him Springsteen.

Yeah but it could have been names after the shark in Jaws. Yeah!

In fact, thinking about it, the next 2 pets I have are going to be called John Barrowman and Jenny McShane. Sorted.
