that there are possibly people born in the year 2000 currently browsing this website. Think about that.

Yep.

And some people born in the 90s are now well into adulthood.

In the 90s!

That some of my favourite films and albums (from the 90's) have received or would soon be receiving a key to the door if they were human rather than, y'know, films and albums.

Se7en, Usual Suspects, Toy Story, Twelve Monkeys and Casino will be old enough to buy a pint this year...

Would it upset you to know that I was born in 1991? Though if it's any consolation, I am of what is probably the last generation of youngsters to have any cognisance of a world without high-speed internet.

I realised the other day that kids whose first Doctor Who was Christopher Eccleston are now old enough to drink.

You're the same age as the album that pretty much defined my musical taste during my teens (Nevermind).

Now I'm depressed.

I know, that's frightening.

I remember buying Appetite for Destruction in 1987, which was 26 years ago.
That is as old now as Elvis Presley's GI Blues was when I first bought Appetite for Destruction.
And I even had hair on my bollocks.

I was chatting to a workmate when this came out in 3D recently. I happened to ask him what he'd been up to at the weekend, and he mentioned he'd been to the cinema to see Titanic. I was taken aback, because he's bit of a lad and basically just not who I would have expected to voluntarily go to see Titanic in the cinema. Anyway I pulled a bemused face and said, 'Well I guess for us there's the nostalgia element of it, since it was a huge deal when we were all teens', and in response he hit me with, 'I was six when it came out.'

All my girl friends at the time were bawling their eyes out over Jack and my workmate was learning how to spell.

Back to the Future is 27 this year.

I can remember walking home from the cinema on a lovely sunny day having just watched it for the second time.

Also, as Harry Tuttle mentions up page, there are children who were born after Toy Story that will be attending university this year.

We had one of them, and I used to love it as a kid. I don't know what it was (I think it was all the whirs and clicks and so on), but there was something satisfying about using them. I'd sometimes sit there and just prat about with the phone until my mum caught and bollocked me (we had to make our own entertainment in those days kids).

Took three years to dial 999 on those phones.

My nan had two, one in the living room and one in the hallway upstairs. Me and my sisters could ring each other on them, and it's amazing how much fun it was listening to the sound of it being dialled from the other end.

We had one of those. We also had a TV that you had to get up and walk over to in order to change channels or adjust the volume/colour/contrast etc. Dear god , these days if I can't find the remote I go into a state of panic.

Strangely enough, not having seen this thread yet, this morning I was just thinking about the days before 0800 numbers: "dial 100 and ask for freephone Servowarm" - 100 being the number for the operator.

Also, we were talking at work today about how there will soon be a generation who will never have used or bought music CDs, which we find mind-blowing considering we remember when they were the latest leap forward in modern technology.
