Now, here's hoping episode 7 avoids Gloomochundervision too.

The postponement of episodes II & III come as no surprise look for a release date for both these early 2015. After all they will be the cheapest adverts for episode VII and will even recoup publicity costs for Disney's campaign. You've got to hand it to them. They are savvy!

Whilst this is good news it does mean Mark Kermode will never shut up about it.

As if! There's no way on Earth that Disney of all people would miss out on the 3D premium. Episode 7 will be 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D. If I were a betting man I'd say that Episodes 4, 5 and 6 will get a conversion at some point as well. If I were also insane (debatable) I'd say we'll get all six previous episodes in 3D leading up to Episode 7. Disney did that with Toy Story 1 & 2 and they made enough cash to kill a bull elephant, so expect similar products now that Disney have the power.

To help build hype for Episode VII's release.

Disney love 3D re-releases, so this will obviously be released, it was just too soon brand-wise releasing it this year.

the bottom has dropped out of the 3d reissue trend- see the low gross for 'monsters inc 3d' in the US.

disney did the math and felt it was not worth it.

if on the other hand there was a 3d convert of the OT.....
