Anyone else watch this? A new show from Alan Ball full of sex and violence as you might expect from a Cinemax effort

The plot follows an ex-convict who traces his partner in a diamond heist to the small Pennsylvania town where she now lives with her husband and kids under a new identity. When the town's new sherrif is killed in a robbery at a roadside bar , he assumes the his identity. Meanwhile the kingpin he double corssed is on his trail and he has to contend with the town's Big bad - rather nasty fellow of Amish origins.

It's a got some promise as a thriller. The central character "Lucas Hood" is well played by Anthony Starr and is likeably dangerous protagonist whilst Ulrich Thomsen is good value as the main bad guy in town. Have only seen the first episode so far but I enjoyed it. Will keep an eye on it.

Only me then?

Still a lot of old nonsense - still quite enjoying it.

Reasonable first episode. Felt a bit like they had one or two good ideas for scenes and the dynamic between him and his old partner isn't bad either, but they struggled to tie it all in together. Action scenes weren't a patch on Strike Back's though. Has promise, overall.

I've just started watching this on Sky One. Doesn't seem enough interest to start a UK speed thread so I'll hijack this one.

I really liked the first episode. The acting is pretty good compared to some of the other guff I watch and the story seems interesting. I might be wrong but I'm getting a slight supernatural vibe from some of the goings on. Looking forward to see how it pans out.

Anyone else watching?

You are wrong. The show title doesn't really help though

Watched the entire first season when it ran in the States. Absolutely frickin' awesome stuff. Full of sex & violence.

It's completely unbelievable half the time, but go with it & it's a hell of a ride.

Best new show this year.

Not really sure what to make of it after the first episode. One of the sex scenes was quite near the knuckle

Shall give it a couple more episodes to see if I can get into it.

I didn't change channels after GoT so caught some of this (was doing other stuff) but what I saw looked promising so will be watching the repeat.

Is no-one else watching this? It's got to be one of the better things on the telly just now. Episode 3 was brilliant.

I'm enjoying it although I'm finding it difficult to understand/sympathise with the main character's reasons for staying. There's a lot of potential in an ex-con trying to be a sheriff but so far he's just beaten the crap out of people which just wouldn't stand up. I know the show is taking some liberties but it's ridiculous how much he's gotten away with so far. I still like the show though.

My reasoning is that that's what happens all the time in these small hick towns. Rough justice etc.

Really enjoyed this series. Wouldn't take it too seriously. It's very pulpy and comic book stylee. Hood gets the crap beat out of him every episode it seems, then is fine a couple days later. Enjoy the ride, of which there are plenty
