Anyone else watch this? A new show from Alan Ball full of sex and violence as you might expect from a Cinemax effort

The plot follows an ex-convict who traces his partner in a diamond heist to the small Pennsylvania town where she now lives with her husband and kids under a new identity. When the town's new sherrif is killed in a robbery at a roadside bar , he assumes the his identity. Meanwhile the kingpin he double corssed is on his trail and he has to contend with the town's Big bad - rather nasty fellow of Amish origins.

It's a got some promise as a thriller. The central character "Lucas Hood" is well played by Anthony Starr and is likeably dangerous protagonist whilst Ulrich Thomsen is good value as the main bad guy in town. Have only seen the first episode so far but I enjoyed it. Will keep an eye on it.

Only me then?

Still a lot of old nonsense - still quite enjoying it.

Reasonable first episode. Felt a bit like they had one or two good ideas for scenes and the dynamic between him and his old partner isn't bad either, but they struggled to tie it all in together. Action scenes weren't a patch on Strike Back's though. Has promise, overall.

I've just started watching this on Sky One. Doesn't seem enough interest to start a UK speed thread so I'll hijack this one.

I really liked the first episode. The acting is pretty good compared to some of the other guff I watch and the story seems interesting. I might be wrong but I'm getting a slight supernatural vibe from some of the goings on. Looking forward to see how it pans out.

Anyone else watching?

You are wrong. The show title doesn't really help though

Watched the entire first season when it ran in the States. Absolutely frickin' awesome stuff. Full of sex & violence.

It's completely unbelievable half the time, but go with it & it's a hell of a ride.

Best new show this year.

Not really sure what to make of it after the first episode. One of the sex scenes was quite near the knuckle

Shall give it a couple more episodes to see if I can get into it.

I didn't change channels after GoT so caught some of this (was doing other stuff) but what I saw looked promising so will be watching the repeat.

Is no-one else watching this? It's got to be one of the better things on the telly just now. Episode 3 was brilliant.

I'm enjoying it although I'm finding it difficult to understand/sympathise with the main character's reasons for staying. There's a lot of potential in an ex-con trying to be a sheriff but so far he's just beaten the crap out of people which just wouldn't stand up. I know the show is taking some liberties but it's ridiculous how much he's gotten away with so far. I still like the show though.

My reasoning is that that's what happens all the time in these small hick towns. Rough justice etc.

Really enjoyed this series. Wouldn't take it too seriously. It's very pulpy and comic book stylee. Hood gets the crap beat out of him every episode it seems, then is fine a couple days later. Enjoy the ride, of which there are plenty

Yeah me too, it's been an awesome show so far and I really think Anthony Starr who plays Lucas Hood plays him and I especially like the dangerous gleam that he gets into his eyes when someone starts to get him annoyed. The other thing I like about Banshee is that he's trying to act as a sheriff but sometimes his criminal aspect pops up. Who is I think is great in it is Ulrich Thomsen as the main bad guy Kai Procter who will definitely cause problems for hood.

I'm watching and really enjoying it. Loving Job slumming it in the country

Also like the mix with the Amish folk as well. Nice that the Sheriff still has a bad side..

There definitely is an American Gothic type of vibe to it (not American Gothic the tv series though).

Damn, that last episode sure sneaked up quick.

Brilliant series that appears to have gone under most people's radar. Roll on S2.

I lost interest in this, realised I was only watching it for the sake of it. It was very good though, I might pick it up again later

watched the last episode this week. on the whole loved it. ridiculous at times but you can imagine that kind of justice being handed out. prime example being the cage fighter who rapes and beats the waitress. what hood did to his fingers made me cringe. that was one of the most brutal fights i have seen, admittedly i am on the squeemish side. can't wait for the 2nd series, nicely set up as well with the discovery of those bodies.

SPOILERS for S2 E1 and 2

So 2 episodes in and season 2 is coming along nicely with all of the ridiculous plotting, action sex and violence you'd expect. "Hood" continues to get the shit kicked out of him whilst still coming out on top. Some nicely brutal stuff in episode 2 - really liked Anna/Carrie's prison brawl intercut with Siobhan's smackdown on her ex. Banshee women are tough cookies. Proctor's feud with the Longshadows is getting rather serious ( and his relationship with Rebecca is getting a bit incest-y). Very much enjoying it.

I would just like to make clear that pirating copyright material is a crime and i absolutely do not approve of, or condone the practice. I want that to be absolutely clear. I trust that I have made it clear as crystal.

That is all.

Thank you.

Season two of Banshee has really kicked off with Hood getting into some stuff, as more fights than the first and not just him Carrie has had some pretty awesome fights as well especially the scene in the prison.
Not sure that Hood going out with his female deputy is such a good idea unless it's just for the sex. Can't wait to see what is going to happen in the rest of the series.

Fucking love BANSHEE. Amish gangsters? Machine-gun wielding priests? Lots of blood and sex scenes that are borderline porno? What's not to like!!?
