Nice selection. I may have the Batman, I'll have to check.

I LOVE the covers you've used though

Great, aren't they? I really like the one for 1984. I'm really curious to see how people respond to Aickman. I really wanted to nominate Thomas Ligotti's Songs of a Dead Dreamer, but it's out of print and way expensive. Then I was thinking of Peter Ackroyd's London The Biography. It's an amazing book, but maybe a touch too long.

Great covers, Rawls!

I've read 1984 which is amazing, and Cold Comfort Farm, which should win. Looking forward to the new ones.

Regarding 1984 (and Orwell in general) BBC radio are playing a lot of new Orwell adaptations over the next few weeks, including a new adaptation of 1984 with The Ecc'.

Oh, and I know Aickman isn't the most famous name on the list, so anyone looking for an interesting introduction, here's a 30 minute documentary about his work, hosted by Jeremy Dyson. It says it has a year left on Listen Again.

So 1984 is my favorite book, so I guess I won't even be rooting for my own selection to win.

It's my favourite book too, has been since I was 14 at one point I read it half a dozen times a year throughout Comprehensive, College and Uni.

I'm getting the feeling we should just declare it the winner.

It is not my favourite book. It is a very good book.

I have great hate for it though as I got sneered at in class. Everyone was asked for a short sentence on the book they were reading and most where 'uh, it's about, uh this guy, uh' and I said 'satirical denunciation of totaliterianism'. 'cos I was a smart ass teenager. Bad mistake.

I know for a fact I have read Cold Comfort Farm before but it wasn't in my files. Anyway it's brilliant.
Under Milk Wood – I chose it, it’s wonderful.
The Long Halloween – Though it’s certainly not my favourite Batman I enjoyed it a lot.

Next Up: The Wine-Dark Sea

Re-read The Long Halloween last night. I too enjoyed it (although one very obvious plot pt still irks me). And then for no apparent reason I read straight through Dark Knight Returns and then Strikes Again. Bit of a late night

I'm not 100% sure, but I think each round is usually three months, so the deadline's the 26th.

Before I set a deadline, can everyone check in with how many books they have left to go?

Elab, did you notice Things Fall Apart is getting a radio outing at the moment? Think it's a reading rather than a play, but it's on this week into next.

I hadn't, ta. I tend not to notice the readings so I'd have missed it.

I just have Cold Comfort Farm to go, but been a bit skint, so hopefully have enough spare next week to buy it, if my local library doesn't have it this afternoon.

Edit: Ballix, just realised that I've complelty missed The Long Halloween, so two to go.

If anyone wants to take over the Lit HoF from the fifth one on, feel free, this round will be my last.

Just wanted to check in and see what's going on with this. Does anyone want to take over from me? Are people close to finishing up the current round?

I've PMd so please let me know if it doesn't arrive. I was going to game play with the likely winner but couldn't bring myself to. And although I do have ones at the bottom, I didn't really dislike any of the entries. even the Thomas.

Second time in the last few days I could have sworn I'd responded to a thread but then my post isn't there. Elab, got your pm, thanks. As far as I'm aware Rebel is still the counter, but I'll pass the pm on. Gimli, if you want to take over for the next one then that's great.
