I can't wait to see what he does with the movies. Anything, ANYTHING will be better than Phantom and Clones!

I have a bad feeling about this....Lost was the most disappointing waste of time, I've ever had the misfortune of getting sucked into....I can't believe Lindelof gets any work after that....I agree please keep him 100 million zillion parsecs away from this

Well considering the last Star Trek movie was more of a Star Wars movie than a Trek movie it seems like a good swap.

The real bad news here is that means Michael Giacchino is likely to score the movie.

For a moment I thought that Jerry Goldsmith would do a good score,only to realize he's dead.

Funny that you should mention the score because this could be one of the few scores recently that doesn't consist of ala TDK,Star Trek banging of big Drums.Be nice to hear some genuine wonderment fantastical score.But we'll see.

edit:And concerning Lindelof,he really isn't bad.Actually he's a good fantastical,creative writer that either needs to self reassess his work or needs a fellow writer or director to keep him slightly restrained.

 Ok so to all of the negative people on here how about let's just wait and see? JJ Abrams hasn't really made a bad film yet and more than proved his worth in sci-fi with the Star Trek remake and Cloverfield. He seems to be one of the perfect choices to me and I think he's going to pull it off quite well. They have chosen wisely indeed!

How the hell can any true star wars fan have the front to say that JJ is the wrong man after the tripe that Lucas served up in the last 3 films??
To call them abysmal would still be giving them credit! I personally think that he will give it his all and we will be impressed.
The good thing is that unlike the last 3 turds, this one does not have a storyline to follow and can be taken off in any direction... which is what george should have done instead of giving us 7 hours on the origins of vader.
And anyway, the new Star Trek is far superior than star wars 1-3 which is obviously where the problems with the fanboys stem from.

Abrams flat out denied any possbility of him playing a part in this instalment, due to his committment to the star trek franchise. Something obviously changed his mind...not sure where that leaves Kirk.

 When I first heard of new Star Wars movies I was appaled like many others. Once I had let it sink in and the fact the George Lucas is not really invoved any more my levels of excitement were starting to rise. When I read the piece that JJ Abrams might be directing I thought it could be good. Now he's confirmed I'm seriously excited.
He made me a die hard Wars fan like Star Trek. That's a neat trick and there was no Jedi mind used.

Now let's just hope he's given time to work wth the writer to craft a cracking story and see where he runs with it.

I just pray that somewhere John Williams is called to provie the soundtrack.

On the music front - I can't see any reason why Williams would not be asked to do this, unless he's retiring anytime soon.

He's as much a key element of Star Wars than anyone and it would be a silly mistake not to have him do it.

Awful decision. It'll be another shit rehash with lens flare, bad acting, and justin bieber as Luke. Oh and lets not forget a brain dead hole filled script.

Its a effect popular in the 1970s. The bottom of peoples trousers where getting so wide they had to create a new wide lens to capture such awesome pants.

Watch the last Star Trek movie, once your eyes adjust back to normal you can come back on here and tell us what Lens Flare is and how much you hate/love it

or click this link below to see the white line all the characters had on their heads.... I think they where supposed to write their names on their head with a sharpie pen in case they got lost on set!!.
