Seconded for Hellboy! Ron Perlman IS the Big Red Ape to a tee, in appearance and performance.

For all its flaws, I enjoy both the Daredevil costume and movie. And I would love to see Ben Affleck direct a DD movie. He had the darker elements and blind elements, just needed to leave out the cheese.

But where is Road to Perdition or History of Violence in this list? It doesn't say "Superhero" Comic-book costumes up top.

Dredd 3D. The look was all Joe. As a seasoned 2000AD fan, I thought it was a great movie. Another victim of the curse of the R rated action flick. Karl Urban WAS Dredd.

 Agree! Dredd 3D. Awesome movie but authentic feel, world and costume!
Hellboy again, with himself in particular being exactly what was down on page! DD IMO I enjoyed (even if I did fate Colin farrells bullseye!!!) and understand the route the took with the costume! Same cam be said for wolverine and xmen.
With Spider-Man I proffered the costume from the Raimi movies as it got away with providing the closest to the comics it could get! Amazing Spider-Mans costume I didn't like so much. Just felt it was visually ugly to look at!
I don't always understand when movies try to ground costumes too much in reality. It's superhero and comics book movies, we are there to see a comic book movie. We have already bought into the high concept of it all, so think we would accept the costume being close to the comic! (Sometimes! As some costume are shocking in the comics!) I think the avengers done a great job with costume. Both believable and close to comic book! Just my opinion.

You missed the most interesting one. Wanted, where James Mcavoy's character in the book is based on Eminem and Fox's character is based on Halle Berry (who looks more like her disastrous design in Catwoman). Not to mention the story arcs which which veer wildly from the original source. Both are good (but the comic book pips it in my opinion) but it would be great to see a properly faithful adaptation of it.

The Punisher was easy to do, nothing fancy there. Green Lantern was perfect in terms of costumes, but stinking as a movie. V for Vendetta got the costume right but was too far from the book's spirit.

Zeech 1941, actually the most faithful is Christopher Reeve's costume, as Superman. It's identical to the comic book costume in every respect. Hellboy has hooves in the comic book, but feet with boots in the movie.

Empire, the comic book X-Men wore black leather in the early 2000's, in the 'New X-Men' comic book series. As Bantam Menace said, the new Superman costume is pretty accurate to the look of the rebooted 'New 52' Superman look. Blade is also very accurate to his look in many of the comic books! (He's had many costumes over the years, but Wesley Snipes is close to his later look (before he went bald... Blade that is; not Wesley Snipes...)

Also, why did you compare Patience Phillips Catwoman, to the 'real' Catwoman (Selina Kyle)? It would've been more accurate to compare the Michelle Pfeiffer, or Anne Hathaway costumes...

When it comes to most faithful comic to screen look, I'M PRETTY SURE WE'RE ALL FORGETTING ABOUT HOWARD THE DUCK.

Samurai, the New X-Men comics came after the film, and maintained the significant yellow highlights. Blade's accurate to some books, sure, but not others - in practically all cases the comic-book costumes have gone through various iterations through the years, but we went by the most prevalent or most iconic to judge them. As we said, there have been many Catwoman looks through the years; Berry's, by any standard, is an outlier.

 I think the point with Catwoman is that Halle Berry didn't actually play Catwoman. She played a character who just happened to share a "codename" with the comic book character, and not one that has appeared in any comics before or after. There is no connection between her Catwoman and Selina Kyle, so comparing their looks is a bit dubious.

The worst costume of all, as far as unfaithfulness to the original comics goes, is Hawkeye's. Where is his purple helmet? At least Axel Braun gets the costumes right in his porn parody, "This ain't Avengers XXX". Google it if you don't believe me.

Kirsten Dunst had the wrong hair colour to play Mary Jane Watson, so she dyed it red. Samuel L. Jackson would have needed a lot more dye to make him look like Nick Fury. And don't forget the wig. SLJ might be the better actor, but David Hasselhoff at least looked like Nick Fury.

You've seen the Ultimate Avengers universe then? SLJ looks kinda like Nick Fury, its almost as though they based him on SLJ. Oh, hang on - they did.

Aside from, "He's wearing a mask," there's very little fidelity to his comic-book costume (and, as with Constantine, his nationality: Bane is from a fictional, Spanish-speaking island in the Caribbean, not... well, wherever in Eastern Europe he appears to be from in the movie).

As for the first X-men movie, I didn't actually want or miss the yellow spandex. Comic-book movies were at a different place at that time (hence, the positive reaction to the Raimi Spider-man and its comic-book faithful burst of colours and humour), and yellow spandex would have come across as tacky and glaring. I found the black suits stylish. Besides, the X-men find themselves fighting outside of any given costume so often in the comics, it's not entirely necessary to be that faithful to begin with.

Except maybe Cyclops. I'd still like to see a blue-suited Cyclops.

I know they came after the film, but they were still similar. Not all of them had significant yellow highlights, but some did. The pic you used for Blade, wasn't iconic at all. If you'd used the original costume, or the later leather-based costumes, I'd agree. As for Catwoman? You can't compare, when Halle Berry played at totally different character. It's like me comparing Bruce Wayne Batman's costume with Jean Paul Valley Batman's costume...

 Another comic overlooked for this article is James O'Barrs the Crow. Brandon Lee's film costume was very faithful to the comic book look. As for Daredevil, its a under rated film, costume suited the film and Affleck done the role justice
