The key word is needless, not worst.

1: 2010
2: wall street 2
3: shock treatment
4: staying alive
5: grease 2
6: dirty dancing 2
7: Arthur 2, on the rocks
8: every Disney sequel ever
9: miss congeniality 2
10: speed 2

Although you do have plenty of worst

In fairness it was Arthur C Clarke that wrote another novel and the film is an adaptation, rather than just a sequel to the original. I have a lot of time for 2010.

Yeah, and I really like shock treatment. But some films seem like classics because they stand alone. A sequel seems to dilute that. I stayed way from franchises, because I think they have a point because people must like the characters to see Them over again.

That said there only needs to be one police academy. Also if the lead actor of the original turns the sequel down, game over.

 Revenge of the Cheerleaders is a perfect example of a sequel that was desperately needed. The world would be an emptier place without that dance scene.

Yes. But as I've already mentioned, once your lead actor doesn't return you might as well give up.

I also reckon romantic comedies don't need sequels. The whole point of a rom-com is to reach a happy ending, sequels tend to undo that.

What's with current rumblings of a fresh-faced Romancing the Stone reboot? A Douglas/Turner pairing at this point would be better!

Okay these are my Top 10 Needless Sequels.
They are in order from Worst to..... less worse (1 being the worst)

1.) Speed 2 [Cinematic Trash]
2.) Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 [The original was awful why make a sequel?]
3.) Twilight Saga: Eclipse [Wow, the Twilight franchise CAN get worse!]
4.) Batman and Robin [George Clooney as Batman?]
5.) Jaws: The Revenge [This time its personal?]
6.) Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince [What a dissapointment]
7.) Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen [It didn't have the FUN the first one had]
8.) The Matrix Revolutions [They ruined the Franchise]

And there are actually to many bad sequels that it is hard to make a Top 10 or even a Top 8!
