Wishful thinking I think. I can't see prices going up or down for Amazon really, though obviously there's going to be less price matching going on.

Yeah. I ordered that, it's taking the piss but I'm weak and I want me that sexy steelbook.

Just heard about Blockbuster it's a shame but not surprising considering the online popularity of streaming and rental sites such as Lovefilm.

I wonder if this'll affect films that don't get that wide a cinema release & are usually found in your local Blockbuster?

I wonder how many people will not tactfully rent a video hoping to never give it back. Look out for a guy renting his favourite film every few days until the inevitable.

That's messed up. I have to say I tried their online service recently and it was pitiful - they took forever to send discs. But I love their marketplace and pre-owned Blu-rays. Hope the company doesn't go completely.

I've used their online service for years and it's fine. It had a bad hiccup a while back with days added to the turnaround time, but it's normally at most a day out now.

I only used it last month! They took between 3 and 4 days to dispatch each title, compared to LoveFilm's one day.

Just found out today about Play going to Marketplace. Well I don`t like buying second hand products I prefer even when it`s new to get it direct from a company so if Play is going to be like Ebay then I`ll just use Amazon.

Play's marketplace sellers and Amazon's are often the same people.

At this rate your only get to buy a dvd or blu ray that isn`t in the charts at Amazon which I think is sad. I`d download them but you don`t get all the special features that way. Just have to rent or save when their on the telly to your planner maybe Sky will have their own cloud soon for that.

HMV had some new releases in today (in the Cheltenham store at least). They had last week's Resident Evil retribution, Aanna Karenina and Hotel Transylvania to name a few. Progress...

They are. But you'd be surprised how slow the service can be on Play from an identical seller.

So obviously Play is now no longer functioning as its own entity, so anything sold there is being done so by another seller and not Play itself. Just thought it worth mentioning as the website makes this fact quite easy to miss.

I saw something in the paper last week about HMV possibly being saved, not sure if any progress has been made. I think it said something about the people who own HMV Canada getting involved or something.

Well the Cheltenham store was due to close, but now it looks like it's not. I've heard this is the case for a few other stores around the country that had closing down signs in the window, a lot of them have been removed and some stores have confirmed theyre staying open

My nearest Fopp was beginning to look very bare but shelves have been a lot fuller the last two weeks.

Yes, I believe Hilco finalised the deal for total control of HMV this morning. Good news indeed.

I also read this morning that the Hatfield branch, which was one of the stores due for closure, has been saved. Very relieved for the staff.

Not sure about my local store. When I went by this afternoon the shutters were down.
