Any interest? Fave performances from 2000 - present day. Was thinking we could have a male list and a female list, anything up to 100 performances for each list.

Cool. Vote for Ann Savage.

If anybody does want to pimp an obscure performance to get people watching before the vote, go ahead.

If anyone seriously wants to vote for Streep, I'll put aside my own dislike of her work and simply tell you to get the fuck out.

We all know the top 10 will be filled with Gosling so shall we just do from 11 downwards?

Count me in. Do vocal, stop-motion and silent plasticine performances count?

Can we not just do one poll with an anti-vote allowed? I can use mine for Streep. OR Rawlinson uses his for Streep, I'll use mine for There Will be Blood or somesuch.

If people want to include a list of their worst performances of the decade then I'm happy to see if there's enough votes to put the list together at the end. Might be funny.

Yeah. People can vote for animal performers if they want. Before Gimli tries again, that means real live animals, not cartoon ones.

How long do people think they'll need to knock together lists for this?

A week or two, there's a few films I want to catch up on. I trust your taste Rawls, any particular films I should look out for?

But we can have Muppet performances!

That's vocal performances, yes? 'cos Animal is totally going on a list.

I'm putting my own lists together now, so I'll let you know.

Yeah, vocal performances from The Muppets are fine.

One thing I will insist on is no combining films. So if someone wants to vote for Christian Bale as Batman, they'd have to specify which of the films they're actually voting for. Of course there's nothing to stop anyone voting for the same actor in several of the films, but I'm not going to allow multiple films in one vote this time. That goes even if something is multi-parts like the LotR trilogy or Kill Bill.

Also, years are going by imdb year of release. So if something was 2000 in the UK, but 99 in the rest of the world, it's not eligible. It has to have had its initial release in 2000 or later.

Performances from t.v. films are fine, but no t.v. series.

I'll go with Matty's suggestion for end of Feb for a deadline.

One more thing, if someone did the vocals for several characters in the same film, it's still going to be considered as one performance. So with the Animal example, you wouldn't be voting for Eric Jacobson as Animal in The Muppets and then another vote for Eric Jacobson as Miss Piggy in The Muppets, it would just be Eric Jacobson for The Muppets. Same as if it's a live-action performer playing multiple roles. Matty's inevitable vote for Eddie Murphy in Norbit would just count as one entry.

SO it's not a character performance but a performance in a specific film?

Are you trying to make sure Gollum doesn't win then?

Sounds good. Is the weird film deadline still the end of January?

I think we should all announce in thread whether we'll vote for him in Two Towers, ROTK or both!

I think Gollum will do quite well, but he is a good example of why it's performance based rather than character based. Otherwise you'd have the vote for him crossing LotR and Hobbit, which seems a bit odd. Same as any franchise performances where the franchise started before 2000, like Toy Story vocal performances (they were actually at the front of my mind when it came to making the rule) because how much of the vote is based on Toy Story 3 and how much is combined for the first two as well.

I'm thinking Feb for that as well, give a little more time. Keep the animation one for January and then allow people time to go through Feb for this and the weird list, and then maybe bump the 1000 back to mid-March.
