I said I'd wait for DVD to form my own opinion. But I've read a lot of opinions which say the film is long, boring and tedious.

I've also read a lot that say it is magnificient. So what? You're using the worst imaginable ways to choose whether you want to see a film or not.

Well there were these Indy and Tintin things....

Good point. Both Indy and TinTin were poor. Maybe he should just retire?

It seems like most people are saying this is long, tedious and boring, inc various celebs on twitter.

I've bolded my favourite bit.

I actually just searched "Lincoln Boring" in twitter. This was my favourite response.

@Georgia_Olive - Lincoln is boring me. Why my parents didn't get tickets to see movie 43 I don't know

Movie 43 looks like trash. Lincoln looks boring. Point well made Adam. #sarcasm

I don't think much of Spielberg's "serious" films in general. I don't like Saving Private Ryan or Schindler's List, but I did enjoy Munich (not revisited it since theatrical release). However, Lincoln is probably my favourite Spielberg film after Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. With time it might even become my favourite. It's a bona-fide masterpiece.

Since I use a Cineworld card I've got no idea what cinema tickets cost these days, but would it still be cheaper to watch a film in the cinema than to buy the DVD?

Not if you're renting. 8 a month unlimited. I hardly buy anything these days, unless I love it.

#WayToMissThePoint You cited twitter reviews saying Lincoln was "boring". I searched twitter for "Lincoln boring". A tweet that mooted your point completely came up. I quoted it in here. You should take something from that. #Schooled

Your point is that a random woman walked out of a film that you havent seen because she found it boring? What sort of point is that? Why is that point being made in this thread? Why do your answers provoke so many questions?

On the other hand, 44k people liked it enough on average to give it a 7.9/10 on imdb and an 83% approval rating on RT made by some 16k votes. And even if it has 5.0/10 or 20% on the respective sites, forming it ON TWEETS, imdb or just RT is still slightly stupid.

I'm not sure you understand how this whole quoting-to-back-up-a-point-thing works! I cited one person because I don't have the time, nor the inclination to post them all, not least when anyone can simply nip over to Twitter and search "Lincoln Boring" and see the idiocy for themselves. Pretty much every single one of said tweets, including the one that you yourself quoted, backs up everything that everyone on the last two pages of this thread is saying in response to you.

In short, the people calling Lincoln boring don't seem to be the kind of people whose opinions would ordinarily affect the standing of the more discerning cinema-goer.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA really? You do realize this is making you look horrible? You're not only passing judgments on films you haven't watched (which we have) based on the worst of sources (which we are criticizing), you're also now putting judgments ON WHY WE LIKE IT and calling us snobs for doing so and criticizing you for making, to be polite, a horribly ill-thought choice. Well done, you sir have absolutely lost any ground on this discussion.
