A Few shots I took in the Amazon in Peru around Lake Sandoval (an oxbow lake) a few years back.

I have seen dozens of Oystercatchers in the last few days but whenever I have a camera they vanish. This was quite a long distance shot and for some reason there were more pigeons on the tidal bank than these.

You are lucky to have such scenery near you. It is all rather flat hereabouts.

Today a shedload of Brent Geese decided to visit.

I also saw the elusive Oystercatchers again (elusive when I have a camera on me at least, all over the place when I don't), a sandpiper and whatever this chap is:

It looks like some sort of duck and was diving quite a lot but I can't work out what tyoe it is? (Not a brilliant picture as it was a way away).

Are Oystercatchers rare round your parts? They're quite common up here. Infact yesterday on a walk with a friend we were almost tripping over them, and similarly last Saturday along the same river bank my dad and I had one trying to lead us away from its nest.

Couldn't work out which bird it is in the bottom pic - Harry will probably know. I originally thought it was a female golden eye, but there are too many brownish looking ducks of that size for me to tell the difference!

Common as an Eastenders character, only rare when I have a camera to hand.

Looking at the RSPB site I think it may be a Velvet Scoter.

There's some great shots on here. That place looks amazing Sway.

It's coming into Winter season here which is our best for birding, can't wait. The summer has been OK, less birds but plenty of other critters to find.

On a couple of recent bushwalks,

A cute little Swamp Wallaby

A 1.5 Metre ( 5 feet ) Goanna. My wife's first encounter with one of these, I asked he to stand near him to show how big he is, she declined

We were out spotting owls and sugar glider and such and this fellas eyes caught the torch like high - beams.

My wife holding a tiny frog that I've been unable to identify.

On a serious note, awesome pics! And Sanchia, I love the pics of the geese - they're my dad's favourite bird, so I always like hearing them when they're flying overhead.

I saw my first Stonechat today (although it may have been a Whinchat).

There were also a shedload of Long Tailed Tits all over the place today. My present exposure to nature appears top a regular lunchtime walk by the river.
