 It doesn't change the fact he has essentially labelled gay people as not being human if that is a correct assessment. That is not an old fashioned view that is a hideous view which was used in the late 30's and early 40's to justify murder and is a view which should never be revisited.

Nothing brings family's together more than hiding who you are from your parents, siblings and friends, or getting into a relationship you don't want & bringing children into that environm-

It's no shock that the Pope is against gay marriage, but I'm always amused at depictions of gay marriage being a 'threat'. It makes no sense. How does two people of the same sex getting married threaten the marriages of heterosexual people? Especially since (I presume) a significant proportion of people who get married in the UK couldn't give two shits about the religious aspect of the institution anyway.

there was a chap in the 30's and 40's with the same ideas he went on to massacre millions of people including gay people his name was Hitler.
apparently there was this thing as well called the Hitler Youth which i believe the pope was a part of.
it seems the indoctrination is still working.

 I think that is in fact the most damaging aspect of the entire thing. He can have his views on Gay marriage and it is unsurprising considering where he is coming from but the way in which he did it was incredibly unpleasant and disturbing.

Well I think marriage was around prior to Catholicism so he doesn't have any religious doctrine on it, or any right to state what he has. However I do personally think any Church making the decision not to allow a particular wedding in their building is and should be perfectly fine.

Stories like this just show organised religion to be further disconnected from general society and the gap is widening.

Absolutely agree the anti gay marrage Church brigade say they resent marriage being redefined and what right does the PM have of redefining it but he`s not redefining straight marraiges he`s just making marriage rules fairer and more just so gay people can have the same marital rights as straight people. What right other than expressing disapproval do they have to demand gay men and woman continue to not be fully married an interfere in gay peoples lives....none! It`s gay peoples business and as long as religous organisations who are against the idea of gay marriage aren`t forced to marry gay couples which is the case if these rules get through in my view they have no right to try and stop us (I`m gay) from committing ourselves to loving sexual financial agreements.

Now the C of E is saying you can be a gay bishop in a civil partnership as long as your celebate and repent of your past sexual activity! That`s as daft as the Catholic Church saying priests can be married as long as they don`t have sex with their wives and apologise for ever doing so in the past!!! Pretty inslulting to their other halves if not to them and unlikley most in that position of being in a civil partnership will want to be a bishop and compromise. An empty gesture to me from the C of E.
