Usual Suspects was a flop?

Not sure about that one, went to be a cult classic, but not sure how it did at the time box office wise. Also a sequal would have nothing good to add, it is perfect already.

I can think of at least one Forum member who'd be over the moon to see a remake of Battleship. Right, Gimli?

I have to say, I wouldn't mind seeing The Usual Suspects' Chris McQuarrie tackling another Jack Reacher novel.

Jack Reacher wasnt a flop though was it? Sure it wasnt a Mission Impossible sized hit but it was never expected to be given the source material.

I would like to see a good Green Lantern film though. There's plenty of material to mine for a good storyline so fuck knows how they managed to fuck it up so monumentally the first time around.

Such a depressingly bad film.

I know, how did Martin Campbell end up making something so dull ... and they spent all that money on crap CG which should have just been practical makeup effects and real costumes

It cost $60m to make, add $30m for advertising and it probably made about $80m in profit. Not a bad result but not necessarily enough to garner a sequel if other recent films are any indicator.

It might see a resurgence on DVD - the trailers mis-sold it completely.

Jack Reacher will end its run with $200m + WW. So it will end up making a profit, which is the exception for Hollywood films rather than the rule. So Paramount have a successful film on its hands that has tons of material that can be used for a follow-up. So all signs point to a potential sequel. It will come down to whether Cruise wants to do one and if they can keep it to a similar budget as the first.
