Since 2012 has ground to a halt in terms of new album releases, I'm thinking it will be a bit of a jolly wheeze to submit lists of our favourite albums of the last twelve months. That goes for stand-up comedy albums too. And yes, Gimli, that also means soundtrack albums.

You can either post your list here in the thread or PM it to me. I'm thinking January 31st as a deadline for list submissions. I'm also thinking that reissues should be exempt, unless anyone has any strong feelings about this?

Do you mean Larry's or Axl's because I don't think they're poll threads.

good kid M.A.A.D city - Kendrick Lamar
The Idler Wheel.. - Fiona Apple
Visions - Grimes
Shrines- Purity Ring
The Money Store - Death Grips
Habits and Contridictions - Schoolboy Q

And yes, Gimli, that also means soundtrack albums.

Good news, as I won't be listing anything but soundtracks

Mods, is it OK to keep the thread running?

Would anyone like to see the deadline pushed back a little bit more to allow time for re-listens? This is essentially the first poll I''m running, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's true. Mine isn't a poll thread, so this one should be okay to exist.

Is there a limit to how many that can be listed? 10? 20?

I don't think I've listened to any this year apart from the new ones by Offspring (surprisingly good), The Darkness (decent enough), Green Day (mediocre) and The Killers (pretty poor).

Oh, and Alt-J's, but it was so atrocious I only got about four songs through it.

Probably not as they usually contain music from other years, no?

I should also clarify that soundtracks should contain only original compositions by composers like John Williams and what-not.

I kind of meant mixtapes like non-official albums that rappers release etc. They're usually for free and contain new material (eg. Royalty by Childish Gambino which features in my top 20.

4) Shields - Grizzly Bear
5) Celebration Rock - Japandroids
6) Sun - Cat Power

Feel free to chop and change your lists up until 31st January. Please keep your lists to one post. That way makes it easier for me when comes to tallying up the votes.
