You could put a list into Paul's TV of the year though? Big it up there.

Just a heads-up, popped into Tesco this morning and they had Grabbers on the shelf, 9.50 on dvd, 14.00 on Blu-ray. Amazon are still showing next Monday as the release date, so anyone looking to see it early might want to check their local branch.

I'd been waiting from it since (Qwerty I think?) had it in another list. But it's fine for this year because the DVD seems to have been the only more widespread accessible release.

Think it was me actually, but QN has great taste too, so could have been him Am delighted that it is out on DVD, shame the Oscars snubbed it.

I look forward to the results appearing this time next year! (only joking elab, you're efforts are much appreciated)

Too wrapped up in uni malarkey at the moment to determine a precise top 20 in terms of order but I'll start thinking about it after the 21st.

Also keen to see Life Of Pi, You've Been Trumped, Even The Rain & Grabbers before I thrash out a list.

For sure it will be making my list, outstanding film which was just as good the second time around.

But not better than Margaret or Moonrise Kingdom? Shame.

Are you trying to persuade me a top 25 by putting Pirates tantlisingly at number 21 then?

Anyone interested in a top 3 of older films they've seen at the cinema this year? I wasn't sure how feasible that one was. For me it'd probably be

1. The Apartment (again)
2. Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion
3. Sansho the Bailiff
4 The Pirate
5. The Lodger

I'm starting next year with a Cagney season at the Glasgow Film Festival and Passion of Joan of Arc with live music at Glasgow Cathedral. I could hate a film and still buy a ticket for that!

Did they put Citizen in the cinema this year? That's a fantastic film.

It was part of a travelling Italian festival - reacquainting myself with it has me wondering why it wasn't in my top 100. I love the full on Mussolini scene in front of the audience.

I love how they go out of their way to try and explain the evidence of his presence at the murder scene.

Travelling Italian festival makes it sound as if they're taking the prints around in a horse and cart. I quite like that.

There seem to be a few mini festivals every year going round the arthouse circuit - Italian for a couple of years (we saw a couple of Servillo last time I think), French (this year we saw the amusing Leconte animation Suicide Shop adn Ernest and Celestine, again), there's often a Polish one I think, and Scotland Loves Anime.

Festivals were probably my thing for this year - four city festivals and another few mini-festivals.

I have the option to watch it but as much as I like Michelle Williams Seth Rogen (who I've read is superb) does nothing for me. I’ll no doubt get to it eventually but it’s one of those times when I’ll ignore it for ages and then one day be in the mood and probably hit myself when it’s over because it’s a really good film.

Rogen really is fantastic, a very restrained performance, nothing like his regular comedic persona.

Yeah this. Rogen kinda blew me away to be honest. Williams is by far the best thing in it, don't get me wrong, but I was expecting her to be brilliant. The fact that Rogen was as good as he was genuinely surprised me.

You almost persuaded me to put up with Rogen.

Then I scrolled up - Silverman is still trying to act?

Silverman is very good in it. Again, very different from her usual persona. I still think Rogen gave one of the performances of the year.

IMDb has Myth of the American Sleepover as a 2012 release in the UK so I assume it's eligible.

It seems Grabbers wont be available on lovefilm until the end of the month, so my viewing of it will have to wait til then.

I'll be watching You've Been Trumped & Even The Rain over the next few days before submitting a final list. Might give Take This Waltz a shot too when it becomes available on the 7th.

To anyone with lovefilm, are there any films from last year on demand that are worth seeing?
