Lining up Margaret on Lovefilm.

It had better be good otherwise I'll be seeking compensation from you, Rawlinson.

Considering that you don't like anything I'm not sure I should take your word for it.

That's a good score with me.

If he'd filmed it in black and white I think it would have been higher.

But so much wouldn't have been the same. Like that brilliant staging of the title song. Or the latest film animal encounter (and possibly my favourite). You can see how I was so stunned by Penn, particularly given I've criticised some of his performances in the past (not all)

.

Well, Amy McDonald said it's great, and I don't want to live in a world where Amy McDonald is wrong.

I was just carrying on the joke about being pretentious.

What drops it down a bit for me is that first half hour or so, some great lines and nice moments, but it feels a little unfocused. And I know it's still unfocused after he gets the phone call, but the lack of focus seems a bit more... focused. Also, Penn, at first I thought he'd be terrible, the voice especially seemed a little too artificial, but then it just kind of fell into place. So I think I might be rating it a little lower because I wasn't too sure of that opening half hour. A rewatch might help it a lot, because I'll know it's not as self-consciously quirky as I was concerned it might be.

I'll see The Turin Horse NOW and I'll leave a list. Maybe Cosmopolis too.

Cosmopolis is maybe the worse Croneberg film ever, the casting of Pattison totally falls flat, and it is a totally cold empity world with a series of camnos from actors who really should had bigger parts. Its a tough time to be a Cronenberg fan

On Magrant I did really like it, think it is maybe Praquian's best ever performance, there are flaws in it, but did find it a very chellenging and gripping film overall.

Just a note - the films are being totted up just now but the list won't be going up till the end of the month. It won't be a massive pain if anyone would still like to add a list or make a late adjustment.
