And the DGA noms are

Affleck, Bigelow, Hooper, Lee, Spielberg

Wouldn't be shocked to see Hooper miss out to Russell at the Oscars, but those five are pretty locked for BP noms now.

When do the guilds announce, rawlinson?

Might try to avoid them this year, and save some surprise for the Oscars.

SAGs at the end of this month (27th I think), then I think the DGA is the second or third of next month with the WGA about a week before the Oscars.

It's all over the place this year, isn't it? Hooper in the DGA but not here, and no Spielberg here, are both surprises.

I wish more awards years were like this, to be honest.

Anyway, shame Skyfall didn't get a Best Film nod, but Best British Film is still great as is the two acting nods for it.

Clearly the women in Bafta are responsible for those nominations.

The way it seems now, there are six seemingly locked BP noms for tomorrow - Argo, Les Miserables, Life of Pi, Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook, Zero Dark Thirty.

Beasts of the Southern Wild, Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Django Unchained, Moonrise Kingdom, Skyfall seem to be the next set of contenders.

The Master, The Hobbit, DKR all would be major upsets at this point. I think The Master could pull a Tree of Life, but it's looking unlikely.

Yeah, I think The Master is looking at writing and acting noms now and not much else.

Gotta say, though, from what I've seen of the likely contenders...that's looking like a damn good potential line up.

The pairing of Jackman and Crowe in Les Mis' is putting me off watching it. Life of Pi is doing little to get my interest either.

I'm probably inclined to agree with you, but there's a lot more greatness in there to balance it out I think.

Oh yeah, lots of good films this year. And I might be surprised by those two. Part of me is hoping Les Mis actually does quite well, simply because Hooper is still getting shit from people crying that The Social Network didn't win and I like to see them annoyed.

You know one thing the Baftas tell us? That Affleck and Argo could be the frontrunner rather than Lincoln. Spielberg gets a director snub while Affleck also gets an acting nomination. It's going to be an interesting race. Could be like 2006. The Departed took Picture/Director while with the guilds it missed out a lot. Little Miss Sunshine won PGA, SAG ensemble. Babel won best picture at the GG. Bafta went for The Queen and Greengrass. Scorsese was the lock for director after the DGA, but this could be a similar year where the results are all over the place in the run-up.

Yeah, it's interesting. Hooper and Bigelow have recent wins against them. Spielberg has two already, and while I get that Lincoln is fitting in an election year, I still say that Argo's 'Hollywood saves the day' story will win it a lot of friends.

So hopefully, I'll manage to avoid hearing anything about the guilds.
