I'm only going to include ones that he's directed for the sake of simplicity... and just because he's made so many movies that I've loved, I'm going to cheat and not stop at five.

12) Munich
11) Minority Report
10) The Lost World: Jurassic Park
9) Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull (yes, I genuinely enjoyed it, despite a couple of problems)
8) Catch Me If You Can
7) Jaws
6) E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial

5) Raiders Of The Lost Ark
4) Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade
3) Jurassic Park
2) Schindler's List
1) Saving Private Ryan

As a Director I would say

1. Jaws
2. E.T.
3. Raiders of the Lost Ark
4. Lincoln
5. Catch me if you Can

Lincoln should be interesting.

As a producer Money Pitt is really worth seeing.

Jurassic Park
Jaws

Of note:
Catch me if you can - for being different
Duel - for being a surprisingly assured debut
War Horse - for being utter dreck, and make you wonder just how one man can fall so very, very far.

I'm going to do 12 as well...

1. Jaws
2. Schindler's List
3. Close Encounters Of The Third Kind
4. Raiders Of The Lost Ark
5. Jurassic Park
6. Munich
7. Duel
8. Saving Private Ryan
9. Minority Report
10. A.I. Artificial Intelligence
11. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
12. The Sugarland Express

That's it for now anyway; it'll change over time, of course. I just know E.T.'s gonna climb higher and higher. There are other Spielberg movies I really like (Catch Me If You Can and Empire Of The Sun etc) but these are the ones I'd probably give five stars, or at least four and a half. Twelve movies. A dozen classics. Ho-ly, man, no wonder he might be my favourite director.

And please, people, don't give me shit about A.I. Film is subjective, and I happen to think it's an underrated masterpiece.

Apologies, I know your criteria included producing credits as well. Therefore, just so you know, I'd have Back To The Future in between Raiders and Jurassic Park on my list :)

Have now added Lincoln to my list, while I didn't quite find it the masterpiece many did, it was still pretty impressive.

I agree but I feel that I should watch it again before adding it to my list.

Instead of editing my previous post, I decided to just write another list, with changes in order and a few additions (as the result of phenomenal repeat viewings). If - screw that, WHEN - there are further changes, additions, or even removals, in the future, I'll simply re-edit this post instead of crowding up these pages any more than I already have (hey, it's a Spielberg thread, for crying out loud).

Like before, this list represents what I consider to be all the great movies from the big man. In other words, the Spielberg flicks that I'd rate from at least four and a half stars, to five stars, to movies where five stars just doesn't do them justice. Again, I know the requirement is just for a top 5, but that just ain't enough for me

1. Jaws
2. Schindler's List
3. Raiders of the Lost Ark
4. Close Encounters of the Third Kind
5. Jurassic Park
6. Munich
7. Minority Report
8. Duel
9. Catch Me If You Can
10. Saving Private Ryan
11. Lincoln
12. Amistad
13. A.I. Artificial Intelligence
14. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
15. The Sugarland Express
