It's just, the ten best of the year should have those three nowhere near it.

How did Bloody Sunday get eligible and avoid the TV thing? I'm sure it wasn't on the list of eligible options (last time - the purely film list from before) - one or other of us would have picked it?

Far From Heaven's improved on you I think?

The only thing I can think of is that because these are based on the Oscar booklets, and it was a very late ruling against Bloody Sunday, maybe the booklets had been made up before the ruling came, and this is based on an older one. Either way, I'm taking it.

Still, it's a logical answer for the different lists. I doubt there are going to be that many oddities?

The biggest oddities I've noticed are more down to the bizarre Academy timeline. So you have things like Totoro turning up in the 93 list, mostly just films one year late though.

Four, actually.

No, I'm a big fan of the film and think it's packed full of excellent supporting performances that are pretty much impossible to seperate. Norton should have got a best actor nod as well.

Yeah, if I was forced to pick just one in support, it'd be Cox, mainly for that monologue.

The Reminder list for each year, they seem very short. Maybe it's deceptive but I was expecting hundreds and hundreds of nomination candidates.

I'm definitely on board with your taste in recent films. Although I prefer Ralph Fiennes to Brendan Gleeson in In Bruges. I agree with Kate Winslet for Eternal Sunshine....I fell in love with her

It's maybe format? It felt shorter to me as well but I suppose it can be checked - you could choose a recent year and check the official eligibility list up on the Oscar site itself. This is a lot more user friendly though.

I don't think it helped that I looking for a few foreign films and then remembered that the numer of those that are eligible are miniscule.

2011

The Adventures Of TinTin
Hugo
Another Earth
The Muppets
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
War Horse
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
Thor
Cars 2

Tintin for the win. I really struggled to find 10.

Generally it's less than 300 each year. Sometimes as low as under 250. It's because of the eligibility requirements.
