Hey,

Anyone in here visits any other film forums? Any recommendations of an active community, maybe a US one?

Not to take anything from Empire, but this forum doesn't seem as active as it used to be.

Sarcasm, I'm afraid. Common in this sub-forum where the responses may not always be as helpful as you'd hope for a serious question. BUT it is Off-Topic and a general air of playfulness does tend to apply in here.

Paul's probably right though - so much film talk seems to have migrated to Twitter where people attempt to give substantive opinions in 140 characters. Still baffles me.

That's not what I mean at all. I just don't really find a useful way to discuss films - it turns too much into glib soundbites. I'd much prefer to discuss that in here, with a bit of space to expand on things.

 I like the challenge of distilling a wordy argument down to 140 characters. If you have to make a point that needs a multi-part tweet, it cancels the point of twitter.

I disagree with that. Just because Twitter has a 140 character limit doesn't mean that every argument must boil down to that one tweet. I enjoy people who give opinions over multiple tweets. I despise soundbite reviews.

A few people back in the day were also members of Rotten Tomatoes - don't know if the forum is still going. Or you could try posting here a bit more.
