Hey buddies

Ever thought that some movies could work just as we'll if set in a different environment? Probably not , but what the hell.

Alien would have worked set at sea visiting remote islands

Pirates of the Caribbean as a space adventure

Top gun could have been set in space just with crazy space pilots

There is definitely an easy swap between space and sea I think.

Complete balls or am I onto something? Im guessing the former but either way its all good.

It has been done with varying degrees of success already.

Outland is basically High Noon in space and is a great film.

The Magnificent Seven is much more entertaining than Seven Samurai.

Under Seige is basically Die Hard on a boat (although Die Hard is obviously a stone cold classic whilst seige is just a pretty decent action movie).

I think there's plenty of archetypal stories that can work in many different locations though ...

I mean, the Lion King is just Hamlet with Lions.

Everything works better in space. Everything. Including kitchen sink drama.
