2 hours and 7 minutes of aural joy.

Well I am a Shore fan, but that sounds like something to cut your wrists too

Not seen it, but 2 plus hours is really over doing it, espcially if it turns out to be some dreay classical score.

Midlake - The Trials of Van Occupanther (2006) 8/10
Lovely dreamy and lush country, rock. I just got swept up in.

Amerie - Because I Love It (2007) 7.5/10
Slick hip-hop, with lush production and roaring chrous. Sharp lyrics, delivered with convention.

The Breeders - Last Splash (1993) 8/10
More pop than most of their albums, but still with an abstrapt, punk edge and that distinctive Kim Deal bass sound. It is a rich and deverse pop album, my favourite tracks are Invisible Man, I Just Wanna get Along, Drivin' on 9 and Saints.

I want to go back in time and fuck/be fucked by each member of the Beach Boys. But only while the other members sing Don't Talk (Put Your Head on My Shoulder)

01.Steel Panther - Balls Out (Universal; 2011)

The hair metal tribute/parody band's second album. LP's third track, Just Like Tiger Woods, gleefully rips the golfer apart for his wayward behavior.

02. Feist - Metals (Polydor; 2011)

Oh, Leslie Feist, you beautiful Canadian songstress with a voice of an angel.

Have you heard the full LOTR scores? That's 10 hours of greatness

A$AP Rocky - LongLiveA$AP

A$AP has the potential to really "take over the rap game" and I think he's doing it. He blends all of the local scene rap genres together, and as if we didn't already know it, local rap styles are becoming a thing of the past.

10/10
Andrew Bird - Andrew Bird & The Mysterious Production of Eggs (2005)
Take me to folk heaven, where this album plays on a constant loop.
Standout Track: Skin Is, My

9/10
Bobby Womack - The Greatest Man in the Universe (2012)
A voice that wears the damage of a life fully lived but still oozes with soul. A voice turned from the easy, alluring romanticism of Communication's best tracks to the existentialism of a man who knows he's had a good run but doesn't really want it to end. A voice backed by the same sparse, evocative production that made We're New Here such a wonder to listen to. It's all about that voice. Womack still got it.
Standout Track: Stupid

El-P - Cancer 4 Cure (2012)
I didn't realise he was white until a couple of days ago. Has the same naive cynicism of a lot of rappers who touch political material (Sage Francis and Killer Mike come to mind) but the beats fucking drive and he has a voice made for spitting threats and sermons.
Standout Track: Drones Over Brklyn

Grimes - Visions (2012)
Really digging this. A NZ critic said that there was "not all that much separating this music, really, from Katy Perry." That's bullshit. The entire aesthetic is different - this is glitchy and drifty and much less beholden to the conventions of pop song structure than Perry's work (also more emotionally ambiguous lyrical material). Then again, this guy thrives on a fucking individuality complex that has him calling Bobby Womack's last album "desperate" and "unlistenable" and him wondering if he's the 'only one' who likes Black Radio. Fuck that guy.
Standout Track: Circumambient

Grizzly Bear - Shields (2012)
I saw them live last year. It was fucking beautiful.
Standout Track: Speak In Rounds

8/10
Talib Kweli - Attack the Block (2012)
It lacks the lure track that Quality or The Beautiful Struggle have (Get By and Broken Glass, if you want to know), but the beats pound and Kweli spits with a speed and vigour he hasn't had in ages. Nice to see him kill that Rack City beat like it needs.
Standout Track: I Like It (ft Das Racist)

A NZ critic said that there was "not all that much separating this music, really, from Katy Perry."

That has to be one of the most ridiculous fucking review quotes I've ever heard. It's beyond me how someone could listen to something like Oblivion or Be A Body and think "Hey this isn't too far off Katy Perry". Jesus.

He's one of those critics who is utterly insufferable about stuff he doesn't like (he won't call Animal Collective by their real name, preferring to call them things like 'Furry Collective' because it riles up their fans). He's probably New Zealand's most prominent music critic, which makes his utter uselessness fascinating. I would not be surprised if he just made the comparison because Grimes is a woman and she has fans he can annoy.

EDIT: I mean, holy shit, he wrote this - http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/blogs/blog-on-the-tracks/7584419/Bands-with-fans-I-hate - which is as pathetic and mean-spirited a piece of cultural snobbery and self-victimisation that I've seen in my life.

Urgh, and people say Pitchfork reviewers are bad. Does he get much hate from people over in NZ? On a related note about music and all that. I have not listened to a single album so far this year. Poor show by me.

I've been listening to this album once a week for the past five years. And I'm still nowhere near sick of it just yet.
