Irrespective of how well these titles fit, they sound utterly ridiculous to the point of being off putting in my opinion.

Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood
The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants
Step Up 2 The Streets... to this day I don't understand if this is a sequel to "Step Up", or it's intended as Step Up To The Streets

Naked Lunch. Lunch is never served in that movie at all. One would expect a cheese & tomato sandwich at the very least.

Nelson Muntz: I can think of two things wrong with that title.

I'd say "Gigli" ---> title is as amusing as its plot.

Gigli is a puppy of a title for a movie.

She's All That, followed by She's Just Not That Into You.

DIE. DIE. So fucking nauseating. No films should be named after American teen parlance. Even films solely about American teen parlance.

The Phantom Menace is admittedly also pretty shite; it sounds like a 'silent but violent' fart. And as for Attack of the Clones

I'd be more annoyed at the Clones title if it wasn't for the 3,720 other things that annoy me a lot more.

...this.

I'd disagree with the longer titles as bad titles. They're unique and intriguing. Like the OP suggestion of Fried Green Tomatoes... Much more interesting than [generic title] films like Safe, or Ben Affleck's penultimate film, the title of which, only while typing this sentence have I remembered has the horrible title of The Town. I watched the trailer and thought, wow, this looks really good. And then the title was so uninspiring. The Town. What even is that?

If it's going to be a short title, it has to be more interesting than The [generic].

I think 'The Town' refers to what Bostonians call a notorious area of Boston called Charlestown. Personally I was rather intrigued by the title.

Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society - Fair enough, it's set in the continuity of the TV show Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex, but did they really need to include that in the title?

Mondays In The Sun - I don't remember any sunshine in this movie at all. And it's set in Spain!

The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford - Giving the entire plot away in the title is unacceptable.

Alice In Wonderland - The Tim Burton version... which was not Alice In Wonderland. Should have been called Alice Returns To Wonderland or something similar.

Avengers Assemble - I'm now waiting for the announcement of the next Hulk and Fantastic Four movies being renamed Hulk Smash! and It's Clobbering Time! respectively in the UK...

There are more, which I'm sure to rant about at some point.

Does anyone even acknowledge that it's been renamed?

Only the people who don't realise it was called something else everywhere else in the world as far as I can tell.
There we have it... a title so bad, that the majority of people refuse to use it.

Bankok Dangerous. Eh?

On The Attack of the Clones, I thought it was quite clever. It insuates that the Attack is by The Baddies but really are not The Clones brought in to Attack on behalf of The Goodies?

If I'm wrong I'm not that bothered cos the film is arse

Are we meant to know what's going to happen so that we view it through a retrospective prism?

OR

Is it pretentious patriotic American bullshit?

Neither I would say. Giving away the fact that Jesse James was assassinated by Robert Ford is about as much of a spoiler as showing that the Titanic Sinks in the trailer. The title for me works for many reasons.

I loved the film and I loved the title.

The worst title I've seen recently though is for the new Paul Greengrass/Tom Hanks film.

The trailer began, it looked okay, then as the trailer went on I became more intrigued. I like Paul Greengrass and the story looked like it could make for a great tense film... Then the title appeared... "Captain Phillips"

I laughed. I know the film is about a Captain called Captain Phillips, but If I was just looking through film listings I would simply skim over that.

From the films I have seen the worst name would be 'M' (1931). M ? wtf?

Surely Bula Quo has to be up there with worst titles ever (And by the trailer, in with a shot at worst film as well!)?
