While I was never a fan of Dallas, I always enjoyed seeing Hagman on screen (probably due to school holiday screenings of I Dream of Jeannie); my favourite performance by him is alongside Henry Fonda in Fail Safe - one of the great Cold War movies - in which as the President's Russian-speaking assistant, he has to communicate the horrific realisation of what is about to happen. It's interesting that although the linked article mentions his cirrhosis and subsequent liver transplant, it fails to mention that he basically used his wealth to buy the next compatible liver available, depriving the person who was originally assigned the organ of their opwn life-saving operation.
