great actor.

the reboot would have been nothing without him and the original cast.

he filmed 5 eps for 'dallas' s2 before he passed.

An icon of TV who will be sorely missed. I've been enjoying the new series of Dallas and he showed he was still the heart and soul of the show. I hope it continues as I think he'd have wanted it to. He wad also a great guest on chat shows as well, with an obviously cherished connection to the UK. I remember him appearing on Wogan in the 80s and his mum appearing by surprise on a satellite link up, giving him a hard time as only mums can. Great TV.

However, he got the part of JR for Dallas, not Knots Landing. Dallas came first in 1978 and the spin off, Knots Landing, came a year later in 1979.

He also had a small but memorable role in Superman The Movie.

RIP JR.

The new version would have been nothing without him. On film, at times he looked frail, others really strong for someone of 81 years old.

I remember him giving Wogan a glass paper weight and inside, as the lable said, was a piece of real American Bullshit!
You made me smile and laugh sir, some great one liners in Dallas, I thank you.
