Cynic.

Found this explaining how they were selected.

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/bbc-editor-steve-jenkins-explains-that-selection-process-in-full-1388827.html

It's amazing to see a t.v. top 100 that is willing to include something like A Brighter Summer Day, which is genuinely one of the greatest films ever made, and they were doing it only a few years after release.

The BBC are releasing info on what they are showing over Christmas, tomorrow. Well, technically today but I was late in getting the info

Ok, so we were wrong on BBC1 having UP after the Queen's Speech. It has Shrek 4 and ITV have Tangled, so despite the fact that it'll have ads, ITV win that one.

That is very strange. All the reports had it down as UP. What a shame.

I know, it's a bit odd. Up isn't on the BBC at all from 22nd-28th. It may be on at New Year, though. I haven't got that far yet

EDIT: It's on BBC1 on New Years Day at 6.30pm.

Really?

I'm not at all keen on Shrek 4 but Tangled is a terrible film. Alongside Brother Bear it's probably the worst animated film Disney have released this Millenium.

I have seen neither but general consensus from what I heard is that Tangled is the superior film of the two.

Another vote for Tangled here. Excellent film.

Glad Up isn't showing on Christmas Day. Saves me from crying in front of the family.

Doesn't everybody eat after the Queen's speech?

I'll be studiously trying to avoid TV on Christmas Day.

What about that piece of crap set on the farm? Home on the range? I haven't seen it but it looks awful! Meet the Robinsons was also pretty crap. Also does Cars 2 count given that Disney own Pixar; Cars 2 was such a disappointment. I really liked Tangled myself, definitely better that Shrek 4

I'd prefer all the films you mentioned above pumped into my brain Ludovico style than watch Tangled again to be honest.

Tangled easily the best Disney movie since Hunchback of Notre Dame (bar Pixar ones of course)

OK... so going off on a slight tangent... does anyone still look forward to the big fat Radio Times TV Christmas guide coming out? Not the ITV or any of the other TV guides... and does anyone else go through it with a marker pen? Possibly after a couple of drinks? With a Christmas greatest hits CD playing?

Is it just me?

Yes, I do.

It goes back to when I was a kid and my pre-Christmas ritual would include getting the Radio Times (we never bought it at any other time of the year) and meticulously going through it with a pen to circle the films and TV specials I'd want to watch, and then buying enough VHS tapes to cater for them. I miss those days, although I still get a little nostalgic thrill from it now.

And I always get a little sad when I get to the last page because it's like Christmas has ended already.

My news agent has it reserved for me every December without fail :)

The big fat Christmas Radio Times is coming out next Tuesday, the 11th, I think.

Any other TV guide can just bow down and kiss its big swinging nutsack...

I have one already - not sure why but it was on the shelves here in WHSmith (in West Sussex!). Nice pic of the Snowman on the front, though I prefer the general Christmas ones like the beautiful one last year, rather than the programme-specific ones. It's very early to have it, but it's nice, because I now officially feel Christmassy. The highlighter pen is coming out soon!

Very jealous, I want to read it NOW!

And, can I ask, did you have to pull out the big holiday suppliment, thus bending the staples and having to push them back in so you could read the magazine properly?

Yup. Although I think the Travel Supplement was only 8 pages this year. Needles to say, my front cover is already ripping down the spine - which is another tradition!

8 pages? It used to a massive solid thing that was utterly annoying!

No matter, I'll get it here tomorrow...

(bit of a pause...)
