maybe it means a 2013 release on BD to go with the 'i, robot' disc.

..if it was the directors cut anyway. Little things can make a huge difference and the directors cut of ID4 may not add a whole lot but it does make a huge difference (Randy Quaid's character becomes almost tollerable and for those who have spent years slagging off the computer virus mcguffin it spells it out for you, not that I needed it myself, and is actually very logical). Same can be said for the upcoming LOTR trilogy in 3-D. I won't be giving them the time of day unless they're the extended cuts

"film needed more time than planned to be converted properly. Which would actually be a good thing if the studio is looking to do a proper job"

I find this ludicrous. 3D has no positve impact aside from making studios richer. Even Avatar, the flagship 3D film, was decent. But I'd have enjoyed it all the same in 2D. The retro fitting of 3D on already completed films (Clash of the Titans) for example. Is the most flagrant example of studio shake downs that there is. What a joke.

Independence Day was a huge hit in 1996 but it's not a great movie. I don't really care if it's in 3D or not, it's STILL not a great movie. It hasn't an original idea in its head borrowing liberally from War Of The Worlds, Return Of The Jedi and 70s disaster movies.

Oh and they got ideas from V too (giant ships hovering over cities, anyone?)

I enjoyed ID4 but there is simply no need for this.
