Possibly just taking their time making sure the quality of the material is as high as possible. There were nearly 8 months between the releases of vol 1 and 2.

Thanks guys! I'm now on a Jennings hunt seeing as Lovefilm aren't helping in my quest.

Just back from seeing Skyfall. Time to do what I usually do and look back at reviews in the top 100 thread. But, much like Orville the duck, I can't

Rebel gave it zero 'cos the gun barrel was at the end.

SKYFALL
I just realised it's one of the few reviews I wrote and as it was at the end I haven't saved it yet. Bugger. Me? It wasn't just a lip-service anniversary with a lovely car and music but an internal reboot with one of the most intelligent Bond scripts, examining Bond then and Bond now. Also bloody good fun.

As for Jennings, I need to check my copy to be certain, but I think Diary is going to be on vol 3.

My fault - I watched Diary after I first watched Vol 2 so got confused. Checked my copy and it isn't there. I'm beginning to wonder where the hell Vol 3 is!

I actually emailed the BFI about it and got a reply back today, it has a provisional release date of July/August next year.

Excellent news. And good to know because the 2nd DVD was a bit of a low key release and Bfi so often go OOP.

Argo did very little for me. I thought the script was a mass of cliches - look, problems in intelligence agencies, but look, solved, type thing.  Once Affleck turned up the first time in the dissemble I was waiting for I realised we were getting some kind of pastiche. A great set of actors (apart from two whose performances did nothing for me, including the lead) mouthing very familiar lines, ridiculous 'just in times' that conflicted with the 'true story' claims, the 'person who complains the most it doesn't work and OH LOOK he saves the day'.

And that true story thing was the problem. It was such a straight thriller with all the normal highs and lows that the whole thing just seemed, to me, quite silly.

Who else besides Affleck did you not like?

Argo Spoilers

The person who complains the most then oh look he saves the day. Too much to do, not a particularly credible performance for me.

This was just the main cast I meant, though.

He wasn't my favourite either, but everytime he was on screen I was trying to remember what I'd seen him in. Turns out I'd seen him in quite a bit but it was Herbie that was the first one I remembered

Just reading about how much of the film isn't true...

It seems very much a versus, doesn't it? Apparently hagiographically based on a 'wasn't I brilliant and brave and heroic' memoir and that version backed up the other character I just mentioned, who also comes out looking fabulously good. vs the Canadians who were actually there and that curious decision to change the postscript - a postscript which IMO looks very odd in the context of what's gone before. But my real problem remains the thriller cliches in a story that is being peddled as true - it simply looks silly.
