I thought about it, but it takes a fair bit of time, and I'm really busy at work and also have to find a new job asap, and home life is riddled with hecticity. So, probably no, unless I find a new job quicksmart, and they don't mind me fannying about on t'internet.


As one of the only few to complete a list every year I'd love to see the stats. So hopefully someone else can volunteer, although that won't be me, I'm busy as well!

Both. The subtitles were atrocious, but the problems are mainly with the film. I get that the film's trying to alienate you - something I actually had a discussion with the head of the NZIFF about after he questioned my response to the film on Twitter - but the animation is straight up terrible for most of it and the way it probes the idea of male and national identities defined by a culture of violence against women and each other is histrionic and simplistic. I look at something like Peppermint Candy and it deals with the same themes with sensitivity and scope - The King of Pigs is insular and does little more than scream one note over and over again. It's a brutal and at times effective note, but it's powered by such an deep disgust for everything and an unwillingness to go deeper than 'ISN'T THIS FUCKING TERRIBLE' that it becomes tiresome.
