I can't even find the top 100 films thread. It's disappeared for me completely.

Edit: Same with the TV/Radio thread. It's nowhere to be seen.

Yeah, that's why I started this one. It's gone, a sacrifice to the Gods of the Internet.

I emailed our Empire contact with an urgent heading to see if they can catch anything before they back up or whatever it is that they do.

That's a good idea, they might be able to salvage some of the threads even if not all.

Doesn't hurt to have this one for now though. I really think Gimli will be in despair if they're gone.

That's odd. Oh well, I had a few films to update, so I'll just list them here later by themselves.

Why couldn't this have happened to Your Drooling Insanity Unpopular Opinion instead?

Edit: Found my Top 10 header picture. You can stop laughing, I liked these.

The top 100 films and the top 100 TV/Radio threads are gone.

The Star Wars VII, Black Bond Question and Unpopular Opinion threads survive.

The Gods of the internet have a sick fucking sense of humour.

Plus I've now lost over 600 posts from my post count. Woe is me, this is a bad day.

As I said elsehwere. when told that attempts to deal with spam could delete areas we did ask if it could be targetted.

The problem seems to be that Paul posted a fake/joke spam thread I think.

Oh, and in case I'll take my first post to list things. I've got nothing recorded as I wasn't writing many reviews

It would probably have been easier just to take my suggestion of making a few new mods.

Dealing with spam by and large should never even need to get onto the site. Verification type stuff should cull most of it as most comes from the same IP group at the moment. Hell, people can register on the site without valid e-mail addresses!

Oh, Snap. Where's Lukeyboy when you need him?

And yeah I'll use my first post in this thread as my list placeholder.

I know this isn't ideal, but maybe a way to deal with it would be to independently verify all new people signing up for a while? Rather than just being able to post straight after registering?

It's been asked. One drawback is there are stocked spam IDs going back months - the last major attack was using IDs left as sleepers about 3-6 months before. The other is that most people who sign up never post - it's for things like the competitions on the main site. So the alt there would be separate membership procedures for the forum and for the rest of the site.

Bugger. Then you should all definitely make more mods to help deal with it.

Actually that doesn't seem to work and I'm not sure why. Its what I did, I've saved the thread onto my favourites but I can't get past the first page. I can use this thread to copy and paste everyone's lists from the first page and we can start another thread so you can copy and paste your own list from what I post here. Does that make sense? Am I gonna get in trouble from a moderator for this? Huh?

Unfortunately if your list was on Page 2 onwards I think it may be gone forever?
