i have noticed in more and more action films these days jumping and generally bouncing off shit without injury seems to feature heavily.

total recall remake- just endless jumping and bouncing off shit
die hard 4.0- jumping and falling out of buildings and bouncing off shit
the craig bond movies- full of jumping and bouncing off shit

i actually kind of like it but how many movies now insist on the jumping from one building down in through the window of another, bourne etc.

plus if there isnt a jumping and bouncing off shit scene there will be a high fall through numerous roofs or timber, normally whilst fighting.

anyone else noticed this action trend.

my personal favorite is the leap of faith, cliffhanger is a good example, now most action movies have a big leap of some kind which in many cases is followed by bouncing off shit.

Now that you mention it, bouncing off shit and turning it into an attack is a special move of Paul Walker's character in the Fast and Furious movies

In fairness to Skyfall, the film does establish that Craig's Bond is merely human, vulnerable and is capable of being badly injured. Incidentally that's one of the many reasons why I love Craig as Bond: He comes across as a vulnerable, three dimensional character.

Die Hard 4.0 is a strange one, because there's scenes establishing McClane's vulnerability and tendency to get badly hurt, but then Len Wiseman has him doing superhuman stuff despite being badly hurt earlier in the film.

Die Hard 4.0 is all over the shop in terms of character development and structure, but I actually kinda enjoyed it.

I'm guessing you mean movies have noticed parkour in a big way. The thing being a lot of the practioners are pretty impressive at the jumping. Just watch District 13.

The 'jumping & bouncing off shit' is called Parkour or freerunning & it's become quite a popular sport in recent years. It's just movie makers putting trendy stuff in their films. It's not exactly a new thing.

The bad guys involved in the Casino Royale (Sebastien Foucan) & Die Hard 4 (Cyril Raffaelli) sequences are quite well regarded as a couple of the 'stars' of the sport.

One of the many incredible things about Punisher: War Zone is that one of those FreeRunning pillocks gets shot with a rocket launcher.
A trend that should've died many years ago.

I think it was Rafaelli's stunt work in Taxi 2 (that's the French original) that bought Parkour to everyone's attention. No-one bounces off shit quite like he does.
