Evil Dead 2. Utterly perfect in every way, including the runtime...

Toy Story 2 is over 90 minutes which is why I only included the first TS earlier.

The UK video cover reads that Toy Story 2 runs for  88 mins.  However the Blu Ray covers reads 92 mins. But the two mins are most likely the credits.

There are plenty of films we can include if we take the end credits away, maybe we should do that. Not everyone watches the credits anyway.

No they're not. UK video (PAL) runs faster than 24frames per second, which means UK videos prior to Blu-ray (VHS, DVD) have always had a slightly shorter running time. The correct running time is the one listed on the Blu-ray.

Another shout for Stand By Me, pretty much perfect in ever way.

For an awesome 35 minutes, try La Cabina (The Telephone Box). If anyone was mesmerised by this when it was shown on BBC2 in the early 80's, it's basically that film where the bloke is trapped in a phone box. You'll never get in another one!

I remember being surprised to find that Zombieland came in at just 88 minutes. Doesn't feel it.

Does that mean you didn't like it?

The Wicker Man is 88 minutes

The restored directors cut (extended cut whatever it's called - depends on which DVD you buy) is 99 minutes.

Recently saw Asura (75 mins) at the Leeds Film Festival. Awesome anime which stuck with me for a few days after seeing it.

Phone Booth is a good example, nice and tight.

Anyway, I'll add Duck Soup.

I know in the old days, movies were a lot shorter and that there are a large no. of classic films that are less than 90 mins long (my recent Universal Monster Blu Ray set has confirmed this!) but from the modern age, what are the best examples of an amazing film that is less than 90 mins long, or at least short in length in film terms?

Under 90 minutes is a big plus for me, I can't cope really well with the "huh?" feeling that comes when suddenly realizing watching a film takes far more than I expected

Persona is a great example, and Riten is another good one. A film with a solid idea doesn't need much more, and both fit in about the runtime of The Dark knight

There's a couple of solid French horror films that get their point well into about 90, A L'interieur, Amer and Calvaire comes to mind. Martyrs must be about the 100's. Tsukamoto had made a couple of awesome films in well under 90 minutes. Tetsuo: The Ironman and Haze are both under 70 minutes. On that style, Electric Dragon 80000V is rather short too.

There are tons of them I guess but it gets a bit hard to recall them, a solid and complete film rarely feels short
